Hi John, Thanks, mate , the camera does get some on it, that's why sometimes the image is a little cloudy, I just clean the screen and lens every time it goes on and off my head, so around 4 or 5 times wile making a video. I normally just dab some thinners on a paper towel. The lens and screen are glass, so it doesn't harm it.

Hi Buddy, Meiji uses around 2.8 CFM and the LPH80 around 2.4 CFM, so the compressor doesn't have to be that big

As I understand these “mini” guns are for spot repair and the one or two panel jobs. I think they both shine at this, but the LPH80 stays my favourite (as a would like to have).

Hi William, These are used by a host of different trades, as you say, automotive spot repairs but also by furniture makers, scale modelling, tanning studios, guitar finishers, and others , so very universal. The LPH80 is a lovely little tool, so keep striving for it. Hopefully, you'll get one soon, cheers, mate 👍

Hi Pete, a really good comparison there mate as apart from the fan size there is very little between them yeah the LPH80 is a bit slower but I wouldn't see it as a deal breaker👌the Meiji seem to put out more overspray but that could be due to it's bigger fan size as more of it is missing the panel and going into the air🤔 When you was mixing the clear you put the clear and hardener in as usual but before you put the thinners in you added something from a different bottle but it was only a tiny splash that you put in the cup🤔I'm wondering if you use and accelerator🤷‍♂🧐like you mate I normally add a bit of thinners to my clear even if the TDS doesn't call for it🤓😎 Cheers Pete👍

Hi John, Yeah, these are two guns that on paper and size look very similar, but they are quite different, so I thought I would point that out, and this shows it rather well. The little something I mixed was as far as I know, just adding a little more clear as I had overdone it with the hardener, it shouldn't make a difference but best to keep both clear mixes the same for a comparison I guess Cheers mate 👍

Hi Pete! Wow, the results are indeed stunning 👍 The more I watch your videos, the more I discover about smaller guns and the more I wonder if I did a mistake buying a "big" gun (R500) for my motorcycle fairings 😂 I was really appealed by the air consumption but is was a lie unfortunately as you mentioned in a previous video 😕 I'm wondering, do you think it's possible to setup a full size gun to work as a mini one by reducing the fan and fluid to put less material for smaller jobs and stencils (and maybe reduce air consumption as a side effect)? Kind of the reverse of what you do in this video 😂 Thanks again for sharing these videos, I love the fact you're painting smaller parts and I learn a lot!

Hi Mate, It is possible to set a bigger gun up like a mini as far as fan and fluid output is concerned, but it's not going to atomise particularly well. The biggest drawback will be air consumption. You will need the pressure, in the case of the R500, of around 2bar so 29psi, so even with a smaller pattern and less fluid output, your air consumption will be the same as if it were set up for using it as a full size gun. I had never tried to spray one of these panels with these. They surprised me how easy they did it, I thought they would be really slow, but they weren't all things considered , cheers buddy 👍

The more I watch your videos about the miniguns and lph 80 in particular, the more I think it could be the gun I need. I have a small capacity compressor (24L silent one so low cfm) and as I live in the downtown of my city, I want to keep the sound and overspray at a minimum even if I work in my garage. Do you think I go wrong if I buy one to paint small stuff like motorcycle parts? It's quite pricey but it seems like it's the best gun that matches my requirements Thanks again Pete!

Oh, I forgot to ask, is it ok to paint pearl or metallics with the 1.2 tip? I regularly see that you need 1.3 or 1.4 for basecoat and 1.8 for primer but it doesn't seem to be the same for mini guns Does the gun size matter to choose the tip size? I'm scared pearl could clog the smaller tips Thanks and have a great evening!

Hi mate, the LPH80 would suit you without a doubt, yes, they are expensive, but they are very good . They use around 2.2cfm with the E4 cap, so they are suitable for even the smallest compressors, yes, you will have to be patient as they are slow, sometimes frustrating so but this is a small price to pay for something that fits you brief perfectly in all other respects. 👍

There's no pearls or metallics that would clog a 1.2, 1.0, or 0.8 for that matter, metal flake, yes, but that's a bit more specialised. Primer is different. You will get away with primers, but higher build primer would need a bigger tip unless you thinned it down a fair bit, which means lots of coats it your after a higher build. Personally I would buy a cheap 1.2 or similar mini, like the ANI GF3 and use that for primer and keep the LPH80 for the base and clear, primer is horrible messy stuff so I try and keep it out of the better guns

Hi Pete, do you think the LPH80 is a viable option for lacquering wheels? I currently use a SATA minijet 4400 in 1.2 setup and cant fault its application, but I need a second and have a few LPH80's around me in 1.0 setups that I could always repurpose. Or are there another mini guns you would recommend that spray like the SATA, but without the price tag 😂

Hi mate, The LPH80 is used by many for wheels. It is ideal for that. I know some like the Sata Minijet because the fan wheel on the side is easy to adjust on the go, when you say like the Sata what's the things you like about it? Let me know and I'll try and make a few suggestions

@@peteshobbies5383 thanks for that Pete. I like the SATA for it's fan size, atomisation and just the way it feels in general. I've tried the iwata AZ4 in both 1.2 with a number 1 cap, and a 1.3 with a number 2 cap, but I didn't really get on with either (although I did prefer the 1.2 with number 1 cap out of the two setups). They both just felt a bit clunky and cheap I guess, and I couldn't get my flow right for the life of me - dry spots and runs everywhere!

@MrCliveusMaximus Hi mate, The fan size on the Sata is big for its size so I wouldn't think an LPH80 would be what your after, take a look at the Iwata W50 Kiwami or W50 Bisho, both side cups but like an LPH80 on steroids, this Meiji Finer Spot is also excellent and has a big fan for it's size. The AZ4 is a bit clunky for sure, but it is obviously cheaper. The Meiji Finer Force guns are also excellent. This video may help with judgment on the Iwatas mentioned above, it gives an idea of fan size, all atomise brilliantly, kzread.info/dash/bejne/a6R7j699hJm2h7Q.htmlsi=dhyol2LQsFWZbG94
