You need to understand that American women aren't supposed to curtsy to the queen. Meghan was never taught to curtsey because we do not do it to anyone. She did the best she could do under the circumstances.

Mocking her grandmother-in-law, the Queen of England no less, who devoted 70 years of her life to an institution she loved and revered is despicable. Harry, of course, sat there like the potted plant that he is. She revealed herself to be mean, nasty, and classless. But we all knew that.

I am marrying a white German guy and when he met my Indian parents for the first time, I had prepared him with all the practices like touching feet of the elders and what not. He has been so respectful of all the traditions he did not understand. I was literally shocked at this moment in the documentary. I would have left any person who would not respect my culture. This also plays into the stereotype that Americans don't understand culture and tradition.

We use polite words to show respect in responding to them. We do it out of respect and love. Some parents will still hit their child if you show disrespect to the grandparents or if you even don’t acknowledge the oldest person in the house. I was raised as an Air Force brat, with Dad stationed overseas. In no way would it have been acceptable for me-as a kid-to disrespect another country by telling that story in the way she did in the documentary. She wasn’t being self deprecating, which would have been fine. She was laughing at another culture which is hurtful and exactly the arrogance the military is at great pains to train out of service members and their families. So frustrating. There is something that seems quite emotionally abusive in that relationship. Imagine mocking your husband’s family and traditions to his face knowing he can’t really say anything or it will ruin the facade for the cameras. This is a woman who threw her own father, the one who raised her btw, under the bus. Where was her mom during those years? Does anyone know? She didn’t invite a single member of her family except her mom to her wedding - including the Ragland side. And now Harry is isolated from his own family and burned every bridge. There is no way back for him. It’s so sad. He and his brother used to be so close. Harry seems to act like he was the only boy who lost his mother that day. And now William has lost his brother. It is tragic.

Harry is just as toxic as she is, if not more so. He wanted out of that family. He has always been rebellious and looking for a way to break from the traditions of his royal obligations. She came along, an American actress who happens to be biracial, and so she is just the person to shake things up in his life and he saw her as the perfect exit door. He has used her most thoroughly and as much as there may be real love between them, I think he is worse than she is because she has become the ultimate fall guy. I wouldn't put it past him to have coined the whole "Megxit" term or encouraged that term amongst the royal press corp to make it more about her. William knows what his brother is about and I wouldn't be surprised if he breaks away from Harry entirely the moment the book drops next year.

Seriously, I'm not from UK, (Swedish living in California) and have never seen ANYONE curtsy to the Queen like Meghan has shown. She is so full of it and yes, that made Harry so uneasy. There is a difference of mutual bowing in say Japanese culture, akin to a handshake in the UK, but to bow or curtsey because of archaic titles is laughable. I wish we could abolish the whole system that is redundant in a modern world and they are not better than any of us. Who wants to curtsey to Charles and Camilla the pair of cheats or Kate who never achieved anything of merit after her degree, no job, no volunteering. Not me.

My point is, do your research. Whenever anyone dates someone and decides to marry them, they need to do their research and clearly she didn't do hers and he didn't do his. I think people would have more respect for these 2 if they would 've come out with a simple neutral statement from the beginning like "after much consideration, we realize the royal life and everything that comes along with it is not for us. So we have decided to step down. We thank our Queen and all the royals for all their support during this transition and we apologize for any inconvenience." Or something like that and left quietly. Never speak of whatever happened or make any comments. I mean, in my opinion, this is one of the things why Princess Kate is so respected and loved because she keeps her business and everyone else's to herself. She gets it. I am sure there's been plenty of times where she's unhappy with things, and wishes she could just be normal for one day or not deal with "royal duties" or people, but just like any grown, smart, respectful and strong woman out there, she just puts her best foot forward, and shows the world what a badass she is no matter what problems she's facing in private. Me particularly, if my husband's family was something else, not even crazy would tell the public about it.

If she had researched it, the information she would have found said as an American she did not curtsy to a royal. Quite frankly, I'd be really surprised if she'd thought of it at all.
