Megamind 2 Leaves Me Empty

Фильм және анимация

I just... I don't know what to say.
I was so excited for this movie and Dreamworks is my favorite studio. Not bad baby pixar. Dreamworks movies show blood. And realistic panic attacks. Pixar? Baby movies for babies.
But I just.... I just don't know how to feel about megamind 2. The first one is an undernated masterpiece and that's the rock hard truth. But this... it's gonna need at least 5 years to be an underrated masterpiece. And I just can't believe I have to wait that long to like it. I'm just not in a good place now guys.

I want to take this opportunity to engage with your critique of the movie in question. Firstly, I must commend you on the effort and dedication you've put into creating your video review. It's evident that you possess a deep passion for cinema and an analytical eye that allows you to dissect storytelling techniques with precision and insight. Now, delving into the film itself, I find myself compelled to offer a differing perspective on some of the aspects you highlighted in your review. While I certainly respect your viewpoint, I personally found megamind 2 to be a tour de force in narrative complexity, character development, and visual artistry. Let's start with the narrative. From my standpoint, the storyline was not only engaging but also remarkably layered, with each plot point serving as a thread in a larger tapestry of meaning. The way in which the filmmakers seamlessly interwove various themes and motifs throughout the narrative added a richness and depth that kept me captivated from beginning to end. Furthermore, I was particularly struck by the complexity of the characters and the depth of their emotional arcs. Each character felt like a fully realized individual, with their own unique struggles, desires, and vulnerabilities. This depth of characterization not only added authenticity to the story but also provided fertile ground for exploring profound philosophical and existential themes. And let's not overlook the visual aspect of the film. The cinematography was nothing short of breathtaking, with every frame meticulously composed to evoke a specific mood or atmosphere. From sweeping vistas to intimate close-ups, each shot felt purposeful and imbued with symbolic significance, further enriching the viewing experience. Of course, I understand that not every aspect of the movie may have resonated with every viewer. Art is inherently subjective, and what speaks to one person may not necessarily resonate with another. However, I believe that the diversity of opinions within the film community is what makes cinema such a rich and multifaceted art form. Your review serves as a valuable contribution to the ongoing discourse surrounding this film. By offering your unique perspective and insights, you've enriched the conversation and provided viewers with alternative viewpoints to consider. It's through the exchange of differing opinions that we gain a deeper understanding of the nuances of the film and its impact on audiences. In conclusion, while I may have a different interpretation of the movie, I wholeheartedly respect your right to express your views. Constructive criticism is an essential aspect of the artistic process, and it's through respectful dialogue that we can continue to grow and evolve as filmmakers and film enthusiasts. Thank you for sparking this thought-provoking discussion, and here's to many more engaging conversations about the movies we love, the ones we disagree on, and everything in between. Cheers!

I know you made this video 7 months ago, but I'd just like your opinion on the scene with Red Rush taking on Omniman, and why I think it isn't a "Speedsters lose to bad writing" moment. I wanna go ahead and say that this isn't a callout, but I just want your opinion. I just want to point out that Omniman in his second onscreen appearance when Mark is telling him about how he's awakening his powers, he comes in using some form of super speed. Mark also glides incredibly fast into the GDA hospital, and also runs extremely fast to hug his dad when he wakes up in said hospital. This doesn't count for Season 1, but Mark is also shown to be super fast when turning off the lights for Amber after she asks. Leaving out the point for Season 2, it's reasonable to assume Mark had to have the proper reflexes to react to this, and with him being a newbie superhero and a fledgling Viltrumite, you can presume he only got to experience this sort of reaction time whilst in a concentrated state. So going back to when Nolan enters his house in a blurry streak (We don't actually see his legs so he could just be gliding) You can safely assume he, as an adult Viltrumite, has the ability to move at this kind of speed and react accordingly. We even see him grip a GDA Operative by the head faster than they can perceivably react, casually too, so he was not even trying when he grabbed them, and later flew directly into another operative with enough force to quite literally destroy them. Additionally he was able to literally whip around Mark so fast that he appeared as a blur, and even seconds later in the same scene where Mark is slammed into the ground before being tackled into the sky, Nolan quite literally stands upright from his strike position whilst Mark is moving in slow motion. Additionally the argument that Omniman shouldn't've have been able to catch Red Rush's hand doesn't match when you consider some of the punches that Omniman is able to throw, along with some of the actual things he's able to throw. He punches through fighter jets and normal humans with ease, casually puts holes in people like Immortal, and additionally, is able to throw a baseball with enough force to make it go around the entire planet. Super Strength and Super Speed are intertwined since strength is derived from the force at which your arms exert, and if you remove the object in which that force is being exerted from, your arm will just move forward with that force, which if it's alot, means your arm will be moving super fast as a result of the force you're exerting. We see this demonstrated with the fact that Red Rush is able to bend several pipes with ease in less than half a second since he wrapped an electrical villain in them, aswell as being able to punch both of the Mauler Twins with enough force to make them actually react, which when you consider the scene in which they casually tank several bullets fired from machine guns mounted on the White House, this means Red Rush moves with enough force to strike with the same power as a high calibre bullet. This does NOT mean he has super strength, but his speed allows him to have some sort of similar offshoot. So if Omniman is able to travel at insane speeds with his flight, and also has naturally been training as a Viltrumite for dozens of years, likely longer than any member of the Guardians (save for Immortal) has been alive, then it's more than enough to assume that he has the reaction time, the strength, and the speed to be able to catch Red Rush's hand on the retraction. Maybe not the initial punch, but when he feels the strike he'd have enough reaction time to move his hand and catch Red Rush, especially after he realizes what Red Rush is doing, striking whilst he is looking in the direction he previously was. Again, for clarity, I'm not trying to call you out on anything. I'd just like to know if you have a different view on the matter with all the forms of evidence considered.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Minion's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Megamind's existential catchphrase "Time to kick some Doom Syndicate butt," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Eric Fogel's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Roxanne tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

But a woman as the mayor is too woke for me so it's gotta be a 7.8/10 for me, 😭 if they didn't make a woman be the mayor at least a 9.7/10 that might be too low but...some of the plot and writing was bad 😔

I haven't seen the new movie myself, but it sounds terrible. Personally, I think Megamind works great as a standalone story. There was no reason to give us a continuation to it. Yeah, the first film left you curious on what would happen next but after seeing the mini cartoon, "Button of Doom", that came out shortly after, I felt it would be best not to continue the story. "Button of Doom" was such a mediocre by the numbers short cartoon that rehashed a lot of the same themes of the original film, but there was a lot of plot holes to it that didn't make sense. For starters. While it was established in the original film that Megamind was a bit of an idiot socially, and he was shown to having childlike tendencies, he wasn't a complete idiot that never learned from his mistakes. In the short cartoon, he sells all his equipment believing he doesn't need it anymore now that he's a good guy. Why? That literally makes no sense for Megamind to do that. And secondly, he gives himself a power suit that gives himself the same powers as Metro Man. Again why? did he not learn his lesson about duplicating Metro Man's powers last time? And if he was going to do that, then why didn't he just use the same methods he used to create Titan? You know just use the same exact methods to give himself the powers this time instead of someone else. It just seemed tediously unnecessary to create a power suit. After that short cartoon, I became convinced that it would be best if Megamind remained a stand alone story. Unlike "Despicable Me", "Megamind" seems more like a self contained story that was built on a lot of subversive messaging that it would be hard to keep replicating the same success repeatedly. Whereas "Despicable Me" may have had some subversive aspects too, it was mainly built off of it's family dynamic and comedy along with the Minions acting as the side comic relief. This gives the "Despicable Me" ip more room to branch out beyond the first movie, where "Megamind" was better off not getting a sequel. The fact that you're telling me the sequel sucked only confirms my suspicions about it. I may still check it out later for myself, but I don't have high hopes for it.
