Mega Moto 80 minibike goes 70+ MPH

Mega Moto 80 minibike goes 70+ MPH
Swapped out the gear ratio from 4.46 to 1 ratio to a 4.78 to 1 ratio on the 223cc powered Mega Moto 80 Minibike to see if it would be faster using a 14 tooth sprocket versus a 15 tooth clutch sprocket on the Noram Cheetah clutch.

FINALLY someone who gets it and just doesn't gear the bike to do 90 mph and then wonders why top speed went down. I have tried and tried to explain this to guys and it just doesn't sink in for some reason. Rider weight will factor into this, whats your weight?

True the motor has to be able to handle all those factors I however got mine stock at 22.4 mph and im a bigger stronger guy and weight under 400 pounds and tge fastest I git it to go was 27.1 mph on stock that was before my dad put the spring back to how it was and at first it only went like 13.4 pumped up the tires some and boom instant increase in speed and it takes me fast up some hills but others it slows down about halfway stays about 2.2 mph when it slows down up those harder hills my motorized bicycle has a 100cc 2 stroke motor and it carries .e way faster were talking about 32 to 35 mph on flat and it goes right up other hills besides my road and the other one that's way longer and steep I get up if I pedal which to me is no big deal because I love biking anyway for my motorized bike I bought a bigger rear sprocket and heavy duty chain because the stock chain kept breaking and caused me two accidents or it would lock up and my mega moto maybe if I do this to mine it'll be much better like my motorized bike its fun to ride and sometimes upgrading or playing around with this stuff is fun😂

@@zacharysmith737 The governor is holding you back along with too low of an rpm engagement point on the clutch. Zip tie the governor spring (look it up if you don't know what I'm talking about) to raise rpm but not totally kill the governor and order a 2500rpm clutch ($30?) and it will change everything for you. You might want to gear it down with a larger rear sprocket as well if you're a big dude...will also help a lot.

@@JViello I did have the bigger stock sprocket I went either a smaller one but now if I want a bigger or to put the stock sprocket on I'll need a new chain and I tried the videos the ziptie didn't want to fit through either spring and I may Have messed something up trying to do that idk which spring it is because the videos I saw were not for my specific mini bike they looked different in where the springs were idk if its the one under the gas tank or one of the two that seems to control the governor or throttle I also but a 3100 rpm max torque spring I my clutch and it didn't seem to help at all my dad thinks it's because the engine can't handle it its 80cc I think 2.5 hp maybe and the idle speed is 1600 rpms is he right would a spring thats rated higher than my mini bikes engines rpms make it lose performance instead of helping it he suggest I put the stock one back in or go lower and currently I'm having an issue with the recoil which I think may just need to be lubricated and it'll start if it's off the ground but it won't start if I have it on the ground so idk if the spring is too much or if the clutch is stuck I noticed when I recently put the clutch back on it wasn't spinning that freely in my hand so I think that might be why it's being such a pain to run anymore so I was gonna try Putting my stock spring back in

I think from a lifetime of having problems w/ internal combustion engines I have PTSD from it and I hate them now, I only want electric bikes now..... Already have a 48v 2000w Razor Mx650 that's going to a 72v/80v 6000w kit hopefully this summer but I also want to start doing electric bike repair to fund my build. Gotta figure out how to do it on a very limited income.... Your electric builds are a lot of help because I can see what works and what doesn't work so thank you for sharing your experience.

They dont have baffles. Never had an issue venting with these covers. I really like the clean look without the lines. Even if it does give up RPM. Its gotta look good even if it doesnt run LOL

perfect example to this is the science my brother in law and I did, We tested multiple gear ratios using a 30 series torque converter, and a 3600rpm engine and 18 inch tall tires. We tested, 9/60 9/54, 9/48, 8/60, 8/48, 10/60, 10/54 now some of these are the same ratio just different set up. Every single gear ratio ran a top speed of 46mph no matter the ratio was 46mph. Using a 8/60 we determined to be the best. It takes off very quickly, still has the top speed and 1 drive belt lasts us a very long time. Still on the same belt and it's been months.

Make sure the shaft is clean with some fine sand paper or steel wool or a scotch brite pad and some wd 40 or something like that if it's super dirty. The clutch should slip on pretty easily. You can tap it on there if you want but if you ever want it back off you will need a puller.

@@larryegilman1 Thanks for watching the videos! Yes, I think the Tillotson does have better block and internals than the Predator 212, but the new Predator 224 has definitely stepped it up a notch in quality. The block is similar to a Tillotson or Ducar block. If not the same. The 58MM stroke of the 224 is inexpensive compared to what you would have to pay to get a 58MM stroker kit for a 212. It's fun doing comparison videos. I might get around to comparing some of that stuff at some point.

Honestly so much may go into this. some frames have inherent design flaws(lack or excessive camber, narrow framed, lack of proper reinforcements like gussets in corners of vital areas causing frame flex), tire pressure, bent frame, Crap toloerances, messed up rotational balances (ie. axle alignment and sidewall bubble on tires). Is the the axle offset to the frame. At this point you to start measuring everything if you dont notice any easy to see things(like a bent frame, offset axle, bad camber, chewed up front spindle, so on so forth) Fix those issues First! New tires and parts dont mean S*** if they dont fit right or at all. After, you change one thing at a time and double checking that nothing has changed in your variables. Street tire will help, but take you time with this. If you are uncomfortable with all this, find some one who is. You never know what will happen if you crash at them speeds, the price could be you life or the life you know. Good luck and be safe! Hopefully you can travel time one day.

@@Black66 too many accidents seen and experienced from small, big, dumb ,and hidden XD. I completely agree, frame replacement is the best option, but there needs to be an order of which he goes about the diagnosis of his issue. Tires just may not be the only issue here since we don't have the exact machine. What i said isn't applied to your response as it was more so towards his individual scenario. Which I should've of done is @'d jason and explained the process instead of details, sorry about that if there was any offense. The playlist is a good idea for him to review for information on how you got to where you are and to see a proper process of how this bike is brought together and responds. Yet, we don't know jason's bikes condition, it could be a new one for all i know. After dealing with different types of blind diagnostics and different outcomes seeing the machines first hand, there's one quote that has stuck with me since i heard it from pawn stars XD "You never know what is coming through that door." -Rick Harrison
