Man, this play through has it all. Nifty trick shots, excellent coordination including navigating through anus tightening spikes and endless pits, as well as cool short cuts with our friend Rush the pup, and lastly, corny but hilarious jokes. It even had one really close call! This guy knows how to play a Mega Man game, I doubt I could still play this way anymore, but there is no doubt a professional here walks among us, seeking no entitlement or recognition, he just simply walks in and saves the day with his heroics. Again, this play through rocks!

You could say this is just on virtual console and they'd believe you. They really nailed it with the graphics, they really could fool anyone

If someone told me it was, i wouldn't believe it. Too many sprites without any sprite flicker.

It's called "Pause Cancelling". Normally you have to wait for Black Hole Bomb to go through its cycle, but if you go to the pause menu and exit out, Black Hole Bomb disappears so I can use it over and over to kill an enemy faster via in-game time. You can use this same trick to beat Twin Devils in 1 cycle if you're good enough.

Lore run deep, this made me learn more about the series than i ever wanted to know. I was confused cuz im familiar with up through mega man legends, and not much past that weird gamecube era after it. This looks pretty neat actuslly

Definitely agree, Contra, Castlevania and Mega Man are some of the best examples of this.

@tiend15 "Looking better" is all a matter of perspective. But then again, MM8 was built on a 32-bit system (PS1) whereas this was intentionally built to look like a throwback to the old 8-bit games (which were way better). Same as MM10.

That's what I figured - I was just amazed at how you made almost no real mistakes throughout the entire run. I can't even beat a level of that game without dying at least once. Anyway, awesome run.

Jesus Good Run Mate! Question on the Side: I have made my Directors Account in September 06, yours has been created on August 06... Is there any Trick i have to Know to Upload Videos which are longer than 10 Mins?! I really want to know that =)

@TheNoobmapler The only reason the sounds were used is because 7 and R&F were both SNES games, while 8 was a PSX/Saturn game. Tengu, Astro, and Green Devil were all just restored after 8. Plus 8.5 is R&F's codename.

As a hardcore MM fan, i have to say you did a great job. Never thought about using the R.Coil for ladders and such. hmmmm... I thought 40:06 was ok, granted its only my second playthrough.

As someone that grew up playing games on said retro consoles, I fully agree with you. (Born in 1977, I turn 35 in a few months)

You make this look so easy but I never truly appreciated how good this run is until I actually played the game very recently. It's so frustratingly challenging and unfair, I think I died upwards of 20 times the first time I beat this.

I like how it goes from: Great graphics in MM7 to Pretty good graphics in MM8 To 8bit in MM9.

I like how this game uses some music and sound effects from Megaman 1 & 2. Best of all that added a first female robot master. God I love this game and I can't wait to get this for my Wii. Megaman rules!!!

There's about 6 minutes of errors in here, but as I said, I'm done speed running this. And yes, I'm aware that you can freeze the magma.

Not just that, but learning also what weapons to use as well for the stages themselves are also of importance. Plug Man's level can flat out be entirely shut down by the Jewel Satellite. I've managed to pull off a Perfect Run of the level with it. Learning the weaknesses, practice, and using all of Rock's abilities are all key.

An as a true Mega Man fan, you didn't forget to pose heroically as you barged through the Robot Master's doors, either. Hahaha!

I believe she's neither a Harpy nor mermaid. She's actually a Siren, because one of her attacks involves singing, and Sirens were believed to use their songs to lead sailors into shipwrechs.

No, the current world record is 20:38 by sorantyan. The 31:29 you might have seen associated with it is the real time completion, which I (nor most speedrunners) don't use. The time in my video above is IGT as well, which is displayed at the end of the game.

1 is harder than 9. 1 has it unfair or repetitive moments that isn't well crafted good than what 9 did & 2 is kinda hard if you're playing it on hard mode.

DUDE IT SUCKS EVERYONE HATED IT! AND WANT MM11 THAN THIS!

While the main part of the game is the same, those guys have an advantage being that they can buy anything from the shop to give them a heads up. Which if that was done, it would be a separate category at SDA.

it's amazing how much more character the music in megaman 2 and 3 has compared to this.

They made 9 and 10 into the "retro" style cause that is what people love. They did make 8 bit NES remakes of 7 and 8 for emulation. Pretty fun, you should check em out.

Great work! Remember that sliding can improve your speed, as well as quick-changing weapons. Finally remember that there are times that you can charge the mbuster for additional damage against bosses and strong enemies.

great speed run! one advice, on hornet man sub boss, you can use tornado blow on that stupid flower rather than chasing it with Concrete shot! hopefully, if u try again, youll get it faster :3 GG

With HD TVs, due to how they work, there's gonna be a bit of delay. Most HD TVs now have a "game mode" which cuts down or eliminates this delay (usually at a price of picture quality). Though when I did this run, I was still on a SD TV so I didn't have that problem.

At 25:30, try using Rush to jump over the shield enemy, and immediately switch to tornado to raise the platform. Saves a few seconds that way, great run though!

Wow, I really enjoyed this! :D About the Magmaman stage, with the falling magma, could you've pro-fired concrete shots to barely walk under them?

another strat that will shave I feel a serious few seconds off jewel man, right before the first swinging platforms....you do some pretty intense menu switching...you can easily jump over the rock carts and put out some well time buster shots to take care of the green falling spinning spikes, and never even bat an eye at the cart rock throwers....just jump em..the timing is actually very natural I was just messing around with it earlier

The harpie joke was the best. Capcom should add some stuff like that too.

There actually is, if you watch the intro video to the game. Apparently Mega Man "hasn't fought in a while" (likely a joke reference to the length of time between MM8 and MM9) and has gotten rusty, thus his skills aren't up to prime.

It's a WiiWare game done in the style of the NES classics.

Man, this game has such awesome music.

If I remember right, the main game on WiiWare was 1500 Wii Points ($15), plus a little extra for the DLC. Granted there ARE ways around all that, at least on the Wii side... (google them if you want to know)

This run was posted well before any run was posted on SDA. The comment was in regards that the run got rejected, not because somebody else had done a run faster (at the time).

i used to have a NES and loved playing megaman x passed it hundreds of times never got old to me i was born in june 23, 1997

@kidistight Yeah, they changed all the sound effects starting with MM3 (one of the reasons I didn't like that game at the time as much as MM1 and 2, and it still doesn't feel quite "right" to me). MM9 and 10 use the original sound effects from the first two games, especially MM2.

@JamesTylerHope It's not weird, but that's due to naming changes, just like it's "Rockman" in Japan and "Mega Man" in the US. This case, it's "Right" vs "Light".

A question from someone who gre up on the old Mega Man games: How would you rate the difficulty next to the "classic" games (say, 1-3)? It looks a bit easier than the other ones, but then you are playing it really well, so I'm just curious.

Excellent run. I've always experienced delay on the wii, especially with the nes games. I can beat Punch out on original nes, but not the wii. The delay refuses to permit it. How did you overcome this. Like Guitar Hero/Rock Band is almost unplayable on expert. Again, how did you overcome this??

Uh, what have you been smoking recently? Because there is no sliding, quick change, or charging the mega buster in MM9 (with Mega Man anyways, though Proto Man doesn't have quick change either).

Born April 18th 1990 and i know what you mean, bro. Luckly i still own all of my Old Gaming Consoles such as my NES, SNES, N64, SEGA MD, SEGA DC, etc... And the best Part : Its still working =P

The joke is that Concrete Man looks a LOT like a boss from the first Mega Man named Guts Man.
