The Schlieffen was based on the GK 5041 design known as the Schnelle Großekampfschiffe GK 5041. The GK 5041 design was considered as the ultimate battlecruiser, weighing at 50,482 tons, being the biggest of all battlecruisers in the Reichsmarine (German Navy during World War 1). The ship was armed with 8 x 420 mm/50 SK L/50 on a Drh LC/1918 Mount, along with 8 dual-mounted 150mm/55 C/28 on a Dop. C/36 mount, 4 dual-mounted 105mm/65 C/33 on a Dop. L. C31 mount, and 8 dual-mounted 105mm/65 SK C/33 on a Dop. L. C/37 mount. Unfortunately, the construction of these ships was canceled at the end of World War 1. These design-studies were about the future all-big-gun-shipbuilding of the German Navy. The origin was a demand of the Emperor end of 1915 following a discussion about the replacement of the sunk armored cruiser Prinz Adalbert, which should have been replaced by a modern Battlecruiser of 7 the times costs (one of the later Yorck's). Tirpitz and the fleet tried to reject this discussion during the war, cause of legal problems about the approval by the parliament and cause of capacity lacks (the engineers of the design-department were needed for submarine and small craft design and was short at all, cause the army drafted a lot of them since August 1914). Not at least this rejection was a reason for the dismissal of Tirpitz in spring 1916. His successor, v. Capelle, was more to the will of the Emperor and so shortly before Jutland a number of design-studies were discussed (GK1-3, improvements of the Mackensen-Type with 15" and L1-L3 improvements of the Baden-type, elongated and faster). After the experiences of Jutland a vast discussion with plenty new ideas and designs started that last until the end of the war and some of these studies were far developed and represent possible new crafts of a German post-war fleet. Part of the discussion was also the question, if the two types BC and BB should and could be combined in a fast Battleship type. This was not an easy question, because the draft and beam of such a ship needed an extension of the harbor-locks in Wilhelmshaven and also of the dry-docks. Just some floating docks could keep such big ships. Another problem was that the waterways along the coasts and embouchures need to be digged out for them. The 42cm-gun (16.5") projected for those designs was under pre-development by Krupp since late 1916. So it is pretty sure that this caliber would have come after the war. @@IXI_FX Schlieffen is based on GK 5041. But in the game, it was hypothetically built with new boilers, engines, and superstructure. Had if World War 1 extended, the GK 5041 would have survived and proceeded with construction.

Im at 16/2 for von hipper and haruna and 16/3 for ciliax. I wonder how Henrique pushed that range. I get 12.5 on bis b with him and that’s not max. I don’t think it’s worth it solo but a div of FULL RANGE schleiffans would be terrifying

Something else to add for those that dont: the torpedo tubes like the previous bb bc's, is that youre very very likely to lose at least 1, most likely lose BOTH launchers on a side. Ive had games where on one side i lost BOTH launchers, oooof

Sparty! this will be my next bureau ship, she's in the dockyard as we speak. I run Hyde too in the battlecruisers and am happy with him, seems a good build. I've really enjoyed the second line of German BBs way more than I expected even more than my Bismark which was my favourite tier 7 for a long time. So really looking forward to the Schiffy. It didn’t make much money for the amount of damage it dished out but noticed recently that tier 8 and legendary don’t pay out much unless your in a cruiser

Tier 8 and legendary have really high service cost so you tend to earn less silver

I love it too. Before petro showed up i was playing it heavy. Havent touched it since. Lol.

I really, really wish Wargaming would create a flag with an image of a propeller beanie...

got into a training room with my gf and a friend and told them both to face my schlieffen, gf who only got gk and montana unlocked chose gk and my friend chose yamato. the ridiculius ice breaker on schlieffen allowed me to bowtank the yami while hammering the gk with both main and secondaries. end result being i obliterated the gami with almost only citadel salvos and the did a drive by torp run on the gk ending the match with approx 75-80% hp left. schlieffen is a beast

I wish I had more aggressive teammates to play with

Good video I think this well be my next project I am working on the Kaga had the needed ships, May other spot is Vermont I did get Vermont I got the silver in a few free crates to get it plus I have all the needed ships for it. I was doing Columbo but lacked 2 gate ships so stopped it for Vermont as Italian ships are so hard for me to use and grained up the BBs for the gates is low on my list.

8k torps,in the pc version mine has 13.5k range on my torps, its already been nerfed for consols.

Those secondaries are freaking nasty!!!!

I really do not get along with the German Battelcruisers, I have having limited DC Parties and not having the armour that a Battleship would have. Maybe they'll grow on me at some point.

Depends on situation if the secondaries are only shooting at one target per side then focusing that target does nothing. It is meant to help focus low health ships or a DD when there are multiple targets in secondary range on same side of the ship

Spartan put the epic secondary mod on lepanto it’s secondaries load so fast it’s not even funny and they deal way more consistent damage than schliefens secondaries

I don't think it's OP, The range of the main guns is poor compared to other Legendary BBs. So to counter, you just have to keep it at arm's length. I keep thinking of the Destiny analogy where people complain about shot gun apes rushing around the map one shot killing everyone as being a low skill weapon, but the skill comes from the approach, how and when to get in close without getting focus fired.
