    Back in 2019 I started working at Mission Overland helping Mark build out the first 100 of these trailers, I was and still am certain that the summit is the best designed and built off road square drop on the market. I still love watching people reviewing their summits even though now I'm building the Yucca Pac Camper in the same town that Mission started in. I have no doubt that you will love the unit and subscribed so I can watch your adventures with it!

    Should have also mentioned, very nice walk around presentation. I think you will be very happy with this unit regarding your camping/overlanding lifestyle. I understand your choosing to go back to the more off road abilities of this over the 15TB. I also have a new E Pro 15TB. I love it and pull it with my 2008 FJ Cruiser ......BUT......I also have a dedicated Off Road Runaway Venturist with 22 inches of clearance and Timbren suspension, articulating hitch, Joolca shower system etc. So I do understand your decision. If I could only have one, I am not sure what I would do. Ha, ha!

    Just one piece of advise regarding your 270 OVS Nomadic. You obviously realize how superior it is to the Rhino Rack Batwing regarding durability but take it from someone who experienced riding out the MOST SEVERE thunderstorm I was ever involved in last Summer in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Pounding rain, hail and wind for over 90 minutes straight. When it finally let up and abaded the only area of my camp site that wasn't flooded with 2 inches of surface water was the area under my awning. Fortunately the ground did slope away down grade from where my Runaway Venturist Off Road trailer set. It was the very first time I had deployed the OVS awning so I took all precautions and used all six poles and guyed all down. The awning performed fantastic. I had also used guy lines between each pole position to form rain run off channels in the awning. The water poured off the awning in these positions rapidly not allowing any excessive build up on the OVS rooftop. Because of the preparations i had taken with all the poles, guy lines etc. it survived fine but I realized that I could not have undeployed and stowed the awning quick enough ahead of the incoming storm with all of these additional anchor points. So I solved that issue before the next outing by placing small carabiners on the awning end of all guy lines. all I need to do now to "drop" the awning is to slightly loosen the guy line adjuster and unclip the guy line at let it fall. Same with the unattached three poles, let them fall. Fold and attach the other three poles, unclip the extender straps and quickly fold in the two awning support arms. I do not attempt to roll up and bag the awning at that time. I run two NRS cam straps around the twin awning "triangles" and attach each to my trailers roof basket which holds both tightly and safely to the trailer's side. Wind and rain will not catch it and damage it in this temporary position. Practice makes perfect, well almost, ha,ha. Takes about 4 to 5 minutes for this procedure. Fast enough to posibly save your $900 investment. Just food for thought!

    We have a ‘21 MO Summit as well. It is an awesome, rugged and very well built trailer. We have two young kids, so we also have the dual bunk option which is super. Kids love it up there. We put a pair of goal zero panels on the roof along with a pair of bike racks and some rotopax containers. There is a lot of stuff you can tack onto that trailer as you go along and customize it further for your needs. You made a good choice and despite the price a good purchase. Cheers and happy trails!

    I need a black tank and a shower for sure . I love true off-road trailers. I would have to get at least a 19 ft with a shower. ROA have nice ones . There like over 100k. But you found the right off road that’s just right for you. . Well built. Congratulations!!! You’re going to really enjoy it . I personally don’t like big trailer’s . I prefer a true off road trailer. I wish I could afford one of the ROA one’s. All I need is a bed and a 2 burner stove, bathroom with shower and an outdoor kitchen. We spend so much time outside. .. no need for towing a big trailer or fiftwheel of road.

    I don't mind using a portable toilet, we have a folding one and just use the bags with the powder included. Even when it's cold or snowy, it doesn't bother me much. At least with this new camper I can stand up inside and get bundled up to go out.

  • @stopmojim

    Cooking outside is great until you get bad weather. We just got back from a week long trip to Ansa Borrego Desert State Park in a 5 foot tall inside tear drop and had three days of rain and 35 mph wind gusts. You cannot cook outside during that. We were forced to cook inside with a single burner stove. Not ideal to say the least. One needs to be able to cook inside as well.

    Carry a small jetboil or whatever for backup. I’d cook outside 90% of the time.

    We live in Timnath, Colorado and have been looking at this type of camper for the last six months (have to sell my van first) I just got back from Overland West and got to see one in person and am impressed. I do have a question about the hot water, a 2.6 gallon tank, is that enough for a shower and how fast is the recovery? Most units have on demand hot water. Thanks

  • @ProjectBasecamp

    @ProjectBasecamp

    Yep, it’s plenty for a shower or two, but not like what you would do at home. It’s like a military type of shower. Rinse, shut off, soap, rinse. Recovery on boost is about 10-15 minutes. Feel free to send me an email if you have any more questions.

    Very cool rig. You did a nice presentation. My hesitation would be the door. Do you have any issues with it? Cumbersome? Difficult to get in and out of? Is there a screen? I imagine getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom would be like an alien emerging from a spaceship. Thank you for the showing.

  • @ProjectBasecamp

    @ProjectBasecamp

    No issues with the door, and not cumbersome at all. The only thing I ran into was is that if your hands are full, it is difficult to open since there are two latches. No worries, just have to set whatever you are carrying down and then open the door.
