As a kidney transplant recipient, I am deeply moved by this. Despite some of these dark times, there are still wonderful, generous, and caring people out there. I'm still alive to this day because of such giving people. It's been nearly 10 years since my kidney transplant, and I'm still here, alive, to write about this today.

Gaddocks god bless. I donated my kidney to my husband this year. Yes. Many dark days, but there is hope. My husband is doing VErY well. Cheers to life, and long live your transplanted kidney!

My dad has had 2 kidney transplants. The 1st one gave my parents the opportunity to have children (aka me). And the 2nd one allowed him to walk me down the aisle at my wedding. Couldnt be more greatful for organ donors. We have 2 kidneys, but we only need 1. Love this. 💙

I am a kidney recipient and if not for the unconditional love from my donor who is my kid brother, I would not be here. Almost 15 years on, both of us are alive and healthy. Thank you guys for saving lives. God bless you all.😚😚😚😚

My mom was a lung recipeant...we never knew who her donor was..but..the day she received her lung, there was a Philadelphia cop killed that day..so we always think that it was possibly him..and we are eternally grateful! My mom hated hotdog a her whole life..following her transplant she had cravings for hotdogs with mustard! Which almost makes sense..the Philly cop would have eaten things like that from the street vendors..we are from the suburbs..do we had to cook them for her! But we were thankful for the opportunity to cook for her! That Philly cop saved a mom of 7 children, who had been widowed at 37! Though we are saddened by the death of this beautiful donor...we would like him to know that he saved a very special woman! ❤

You don't know about the race - I think it ethnicity. The donor look a bit ambiguous to me.

My friend has an AMAZING story of how she met her husband, was on birth control but ended up pregnant due to a bad batch of the birth control so they stayed together & later fell in love & married. Then a few years later he needed a kidney and after the whole testing process his mother was told she was too old to be his donor so after that long wasted time his wife, my friend, decided to get test and by a MIRACLE she was a MATCH!!!!! So they ended up doing the surgery and she SAVED his life!!!!!!!!!! 🤗🤗 I flew back from Georgia to Indiana just to help them after surgery and it was TRULY such a beautiful thing to be a small part of! He refused dialysis so his body was literally shutting down before surgery at their home, mid sentance he would fall asleep and just randomly keep falling asleep out of no where then when it was over he was a different man and so much more healthy!! It's such a rare thing to be your husband's match and able to save their life by being their donor, talk about a match made in heaven and them ending up pregnant & later married happening for a reason!! 😍🤗😊

It's less than you think. My sister gave me one of her kidney's 5 yrs ago and she was back on a plane to CA I think a week or 10 days later. It was done laparoscopically. We had our surgeries at St. Barnabas and Dr. Gefner was my surgeon.

Organ transplants are man's way of solving human physical problems. God created the human body and His ways of healing it are for His glory. So many people abuse their body. Your body is a gift from God...be a good steward of this gift.

It's so very very sweet what he did but what if one of his children needed a kidney down the line? I've read these horror stories of women in India where they sell one of their kidneys because they're in such impoverished conditions and one mother could not donate to her son even though she was a match because she only had one kidney left what a nightmare.Ps. I am an organ donor when I am at the end of my life who ever needs whatever they can take from me they can have otherwise I will donate my body to science and that is how I would help.

Good question. I'm not sure about at the time but currently the national kidney registry allows you to list up to 5 "vouchers" so a person can donate altruistically. Then years later if one of the people on their list needs a kidney they go to the top of the list. Also living donors whether they are direct or non-direct donors go to the top of the recipient list if they ever need a kidney.
