Thank you! Loving the strategy of cutting big and trimming down - it's allowing me to really concentrate on accurate 1/4" seams. Vides are super helpful!

Any block with bias benefits from oversizing slightly and trimming down with special rulers. Rulers are an investment but they provide great accuracy and improved production

I used my ruler on the first block of the FQS Designer Mystery. Was so glad I’d bought it for this quilt. It helped make the block come out great.

This quilt is gorgeous and would be such a challenge to complete. I like the reverse psychology of starting from the outside in. Doing the hardest part first will make the rest seem achievable. Thanks.

I have this ruler and I’m glad for it. I made 3.5 blocks to include hst in corner. The block makes wonderful geometry in adjacent paired blocks. I prefer to make the final trim (after aligning square for first trim) with another ruler.). I see and love the stars with triangle in square. You can save time on side pieces by cutting rectangles and then cutting once with ruler. There are several for this wonderful block. The quilt layout and color way is beautiful.

Using a strip set for the bicolored unit and then sub cutting would gain efficiency.

I’ve been looking for a personal challenge quilt and I’m excited to get on this! For the Juki users, is the quarter inch foot that comes with it accurate? I’m researching a new machine.

I'm very excited to start soon. Pre-ordered my fabric, but had a move the week the fabric arrived and I'm still unpacking, but can't wait. I ordered my rulers, pattern, and finishing kit and backing 😸 I can't wait to sew again after months off. Also where can I get the sweatshirts. Moving from Texas to Illinois it's cold and I would love one. Thanks ❤️

I store rulers and instructions in a small hanging file folder that sits on my cutting table.

Lisa, I noticed you are using the 1/4" foot with guide on your machine. I have the exact machine and the exact foot. My 1/4" is too big. Do you have this problem. Thx. Also, for the SOS round and geese rounds, are we suppose to press the seams open. Thx.

What size fabric did you use to make a 3.5" finished square? I have a stack of Lisa's 5" squares. Would this work to get the squares and rectangles out of?

4.5 x 5.5 ; 2.5 x2.5; 2.5 x 3.5 to make 3.5” finished block. Yields 2 If you sew strip sets for the small and subcut at 2.5 you get good production efficiency. You can use qcr code too
