Hi My name is also Cole, I’m 50 and was struck w unilateral deafness in right ear 6 months ago. Saw my ENT within a weeks time. He shot the stuff in my ear drum 3 times that first week. IM ALSO A PROFESSIONAL PERFORMING TEACHING AND RECORDING, MUSICIAN OF THIRTY PLUS YEARS… it’s been tough to say the least. I wonder how you are doing. You’re a kid (same age when I got started). I’ve lost hearing in my left eye but we’re still blessed things could be so much worse even if I went fully deaf life is still worth living and we can still get a lot done 💯🙏🏾❤️

Music is a big part of my life. I suffer SSD in my left ear, I play acousic electric guitar, left handed, in a duo. Waiting for a CROS wireless system to be fitted on 24th October. I hope and pray that this may improve my hearing so that I can actually hear properly what I am playing.

One thing about having a hearing problem is that it can make your life simple and complicated at the same time.

@@Adrian-Insta I will break it down for myself. Having a hearing problem can make things simple because it has caused me to be selective with how I interact with people and when it comes to picking jobs. At the same time this has complicated things for me. Being selective with how I approach interacting with people and choosing jobs has caused me to sometimes feel frustrated because I end up socializing less with people in noisey places. Being selective with jobs has caused me to rule out jobs that would put me in noisey workplaces. This has affected me financially. So adjusting to this hearing problem causes me to simplify my life as far as socializing and employment. But in doing so I kinda miss out on having a broader social life and more job options.

@@Adrian-Insta Yes I have SSD. I may have lost my hearing in one ear when I had the mumps as a kid.

@@CrowdPleeza I have my 3rd of 4th brain tumour coming out soon and surgeons must take hearing on right side

He mentions he uses the Phonak Marvel. But how would that work if he is deaf in that ear? Wouldn't he need a Cros or something similar?

What device is the one it worked for you at the end???

Does anyone use a CROS? How well does it help you to hear people in noisy places like restaurants? I've read mixed reviews from people on this.

I have SSD and I've tried the CROS options of both the Phonak Paradise and the Oticon More. To me, neither were very good in noisy restaurants or other venues where everyone is talking at once. I think it's because your brain uses both ears to hone in on an individual person speaking. When everyone's voices come in through a single ear your brain can't do that.

@@Sun18Jul I've heard that from others. I think hearing aids in general have more limitations in noisy places.

yeah its funny how the left ear works best.. im having serious left ear issues and its very hard to play acoustic guitar
