I'm diagnosed with sensoneurial hearing loss, my left ear is profound, while my right ear is severe. Everyday is struggle. I don't know if there's cure to it, but I'm hoping someday that there will be a miracle for us. 🥰

Im profoundly deaf since 6 years old. I can relate to the daily struggles any deaf person like yourself will experience on tnis path to survive, endure, and succeed thru everyday life. The most important thing to remember, never give up! Ever! The benefit you have in these modern times that many of the older deaf people struggled most with, is better sevices, and protection to help provide you and those in need of occupational help ifit in the working environment. Ive retired now as a customer service field rep for our city's water and electric power company for nearly 30 years. In such a challenging working environment, not a day went by ithat Ive been thankful and a blessing to be counted on and respected by the few. Yet still, there were those who discriminate or create divisive barriers to the deaf. At of beginning of my persuit to obtain a job in this professional government occupation, i had been turned down repeatly for 10 years because of my hearing impairment, being labeled a liability. I continued and visited ONCE A WEEK,, requesting and observing the job opportunities with supervisors in various departments. Discrimination was not written into law during my early days in persuit of a future job with benefits and retirement. Finally, equal opportunity sources landed me a chance to prove wrong to those who fought against my hiring . Imagine that! The first few years, and over time i learned that i was watched carefully for the first mistake to get me fired. Months turned to years since, I surrounded myself with those who support my professional level of knowledge who improves our services for the better of the utility. You see my point? Dont ever give up, if you have the drive and knowledge to your desired dream job, develop a secure support of co workers, a few supervisors, Human Resource, and most of all, patience in prayers. I wish you well.

I am 18 years old and I’ve been dealing with hearing loss for as long as I can remember. I was the kid that always got the note to take home telling my parents I failed my school hearing test, but I wasn’t able to actually get it addressed and get hearing aids until last year and they’ve made such a huge difference in me being able to communicate with people! I have moderate hearing loss and I also have the cookie bite, so I’m in no way deaf I just have trouble understanding. I think the most awkward part of hearing loss is trying to make people understand the struggle and explain to people that I’m not stupid I just can’t understand them. There also aren’t a lot of teenagers who deal with hearing loss, so the only people I bond with on hearing loss is really old people :(

Brilliant video, thank you. I love the way newer hearing devices interact with technology. Thanks for sharing your experience. Gotta say, you’re a lucky girl: I wish I had a big colourful bedroom like that when I was 16 😆

Yeah, I've never seen that type of hearing aid before. They're just like a pair of wireless earphones. Being deaf or HOH has really changed through the decades. Don't get me wrong, there are still ignorant people out there who make the lives of the D & HOH community a living nightmare. But things are changing for the better, especially for the younger generation. Because of technology, they're connected to the world, far beyond thier own neighbourhood. Now they're less isolated, unlike previous generations of deaf & HOH people.

@@tudormiller8898 We're happy to see this change as well! There are still a lot of people in older generations who are still embarrassed by hearing aids though. Nearly 1-2 people over age 70 years old has hearing loss, but only 10% of people use hearing aids. Our goal is to break down these stigmas. Hearing aids are nothing to be ashamed of!
