If you were born in 1200 you may have lived a very short life, if you survived infancy and childhood that is. Nothing beats hearing ( and in my case a little playing) this sort of music on instruments made to the authentic design of those times. HAPPY LISTENING FOLKS ( and playing) .. live life, play hard!

No, your previous life was the 21st C, when men could make music not by minstrel as today but by magic glowing box, upon which they could see all the world and its wisdom like the scrying glasses of the wizards of the Great Forest today., But such times were over 1,000 years ago, just before the war of the magic Suns, and we speak not of such times of heresie today.

Actually, History doesn't say that. That's a stereothype used by those who don't know History =) There were rough times, after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, but, at the same time, lots of achievments. European languages and countries came to existence, Universities were built, the Vikings made everything a lot more interesting, and some of the most beautiful hand-written books of all time were copied, thanks to a lot of hard work, and artistic talent, by monks. There was also a lot of intercultural contact, between Europe and the Islam, and the Arabs "exported" things that we take for granted, like the numbers as we know it today, for example. Lot of stuff going on, in the Middle Ages...

They also had plenty of works of literature that one would not be surprised to find on the modern internet. Chaucer wrote one of the most hilariously vulgar stories ever in the Canterbury Tales, to the point where he actually takes a moment beforehand to warn the reader. Meaningful lyrics and ribald jokes are not owned by any one era. *Derk was the nyght as pich or as the cole/and at the wyndow out she putte hir hole,/And Absolon, hym fil no bet ne wers/but with his mouthe he kiste her naked ers.*

Same. Almost as if the moment u were born this was playing. For me I know why and maybe you do too. I am one of the most important of my family members everyone says. My mom can't have children. They always die in her. So one day my dad went to Mexico to pray in that church. And I was born. So I always had a connection with churches. And I think the way medieval music is is very similar to church music.

Merchants Row, now that brings back memories of my childhood, when we played in the grassy eeire ruins of a long straight road an hour's walk west of our village of Luddon, where our old granddad told tales of merchant shops that once sold fantastic boxes the size of a goose upon which you could see the whole world, and access all knowledge, like the scrying glasses today of the witches of Epping Waste, but then any man with money could have this magic, also smaller boxes, maybe the size of a small rat, upon which you could talk and be heard across the hills, even to Bristol a week's ride away by fast stallion!! Sad he has now passed away, for he once told me the name of this 'Merchants Row', Hoxfard Street I think he said. But that of course was before the Magic War when men fought with fabulous Sun Bombs that rose in the West, and could destroy any city even in a single day.

I do love this kind of music. Was it weird? I felt like I can somehow my solace in this kind of music, as if a part of me keeps searching for it. I hope you can suggest me some music like this, especially that was being played by a flute. I'd love to listen to it.

Lutes, chimes, depending on the time period of the music it could include a Violin *Violins first developed in the early 1500s*. But most probably the Vielle *predecessor to the Violin*. For plucking as I said it may be a Lute or other plucking instruments *mandore, gittern, psaltery etc*. Definitely a flute was used. I'm sure there are others but I can't name them all! Hope this helped! :)

Judging by the resonance and the origin of the first song (Herr Olof, Swedish), I'm going to guess that you're hearing a somewhat modern version of a nyckelharpa, ie. keyed fiddle.
