Amersfoort is a city and municipality in the province of Utrecht, Netherlands and is situated at the eastern edge of the Randstad. As of 1 January 2019, the municipality had a population of 156,286, making it the second-largest of the province and fifteenth-largest of the country. Amersfoort marked its 750th anniversary as a city in 2009.
Remains of settlements in the Amersfoort area from around 1000 BC have been found, but the name Amersfoort, after a ford in the Amer River, today called the Eem, did not appear until the 11th century. The city grew around what is now known as the central square, the Hof, where the Bishops of Utrecht established a court in order to control the "Gelderse Vallei [nl]" area. It was granted city rights in 1259 by the bishop of Utrecht, Henry I van Vianden. A first defensive wall, made out of brick, was finished around 1300. Soon after, the need for enlargement of the city became apparent and around 1380 the construction of a new wall was begun and completed around 1450. The famous Koppelpoort, a combined land and water gate, is part of this second wall. The first wall was demolished and houses were built in its place. Today's Muurhuizen (wallhouses) Street is at the exact location of the first wall; the fronts of the houses are built on top of the first city wall's foundations.

Amersfoort is my hometown and i love it so so much! So many memories at literally every place in this video. It’s kinda strange nowadays tho, usually the streets and squares are full of people. Im about to move to Portugal next month and i know I’m gonna miss this city so much! At least i can watch this video when I’m homesick for a literal trip down memory lane lol, thanks for uploading this 🙏🏻✨

Magnifique vidéo vraiment très belle ! Je ne connaissais pas cette ville et cette vidéo superbement réalisée me donne envie de la visiter après le confinement ! Le soleil couchant sur la neige et sur les monuments rend la ville encore plus belle. Le rythme de la marche est bien trouvé. Génial aussi de l avoir faite avec la musique des carillons ! Les indications des rues dans la vidéo rendent la marche encore plus réaliste. On s y croirait ! Mille Merci 🙏

I grew up in this city. Was born somewhere else. Terneuzen, wich is a horrible place. Many years a life in Hoorn. And back in Terneuzen. But Amersfoort is still my hometown. Some day i'd like too come back home to this place! Nice footage. So many memories!

My cousin was an exchange student in High school and went to Amsterdam back in the 60's She told us that the cyclists 🚴♂️ wore special rain ponchos that covered the handlebars. So far I haven't seen any in any of the videos. Do they no longer make them?

Your cousin was correct. A few older people still use these ponchos, but there has been technical innovation in protecting yourself against the rain when cycling. So they are not used so much anymore.

Found one roller shutter at 14:41. Amersfoort only has around 160K people and lacks a great counter culture. Also there really is no reason for the graffiti scene to add anything to such a pretty town as they would to walls and buildings that look soulless and empty. Also many of the empty walls have poetry and history plaques that reference the significant history of their respective locations.

There are smart graffiti artists and there are vandals. Vandals don't care about art and history. Their main goal in life is to destroy.

@@meldondglord7930 Well the destructive kind is mainly a result of mass unemployment and economic stagnation or decline, which isn't really a thing in the mid-tier cities in NL.
De helft van het centrum mis je. Waarom niet eerst buitenom en daarna Muurhuizen met rest van het centrum. Ook de kleine steegjes?
