Media Grapples With Michael Jackson Documentary ‘Leaving Neverland’

The new documentary, Leaving Neverland, has launched a dramatic reassessment of Michael Jackson, but is it fair? Considering that Jackson can’t defend himself, did filmmakers have an obligation to include others who defend him? And, given the cultural moment we’re in, how hard should journalists question the motives of Jackson’s accusers?
A warning: this segment contains materials that some viewers may find upsetting.
On this week’s edition of Beat the Press, Adam Reilly is joined by Dan Kennedy of Northeastern University, Callie Crossley of WGBH News, Lylah Alphonse of U.S. News and World Report and Tom Fiedler of Boston University.

    "What deeply saddens me is that no one wants to hear the opposing view. Whether you believe the accusers or not, this has been one-sided. It worries me that a person when alive is found INNOCENT, then once deceased, is again judged as guilty, even without having an opportunity for a rebuttal. Fair and balanced? I think not. Micheal is dead, and the media seems to want to suppress ALL FACTS and ignore anyone else trying to refute these accusations. Interesting that people want Michael to be guilty so badly? WHY IS THAT? He's been under heavy investigation by the FBI, DEA, LAPD for over ten years, had his home raided twice, hotel room raids numerous times and had 14 laptops confiscated. MICHAEL JACKSON WAS FOUND COMPLETELY INNOCENT!!! Please do further research of the documentation done by expert Govermental officials for over a decade. More real TRUTH will be coming out!!! Stay tuned. RIP sweet Michael!!!"

    What Callie said. Hands down. That they could be looking for money AND it could be true. I watched the full doc last night and have been perusing KZread videos trying to find SOMEONE to say just that. It's not (no musical pun intended) black or white in cases like these. Based off of what they have seen in movies and crime dramas, people assume they know what child sexual abuse is like! IF (and I'm not saying that I believe one way or another) what Wade and James are saying is true...it does appear that they genuinely loved MJ. They understood, too, the fame and what he could do for their lives. They were also children at the time. Abusers do "groom" and "train" their victims to respond in certain ways that would protect the abuser. Maybe it didn't happen, maybe it did. But it's not just "pure, innocent" people that are abused. People are multifaceted...but it does not make them any less a victim.

    Because they "SEEMED" to be telling the truth? It was masterful lying and manipulation at it's finest, is what is was. Hear this. Robson claimed Micheal told him they would go to jail and lose their careers if anyone ever found out right? Yet he also said he never thought/realized that they were doing anything wrong? Here's my question to you....do you know of ANYONE, including a small toddler whose capable of understanding, that would think something isn't wrong, if it's something you can go to jail for? These guys were prepared, and they delivered their "story" with accuracy! The guy Robson is a self proclaimed "Master of Deception"! Even his own mother spoke about how well he can lie. Smh. Look it up. I beg you to not just watch an inflammatory documentary that was one sided, but do your research on these two guys. Also do your research on the financial problems that affected BOTH of them. They had plenty of motive to lie. They said this was not about money, yet they BOTH sued Michael's estate for MILLIONS and the judge threw their cases out. Then afterward, go and check the mountains of evidence that prove Michael's innocence, not once but TWICE! Look up the countersuits where Michael filed for defamation and won. Look up the particulars and the EVIDENCE in all the cases. Just because he may have not been what we considered "normal", it doesn't make him a criminal. The ONLY people that were groomed is the two accusers in this so called "documentary". They were groomed to lie and manipulate the public. When since a person's account of something becomes FACTS? Especially when you're only presented with a one-sided account. If we think, removing the "human emotion" and our innate ability to automatically feel sorry for someone who is perceived to be a victim, then you'll see that their stories begin to fall apart.

    First intelligent conversation I've seen on KZread about the documentary. Particularly her point that just because other children who spent time with Michael weren't abused, doesn't mean Wade and James weren't. If their accounts are true, it seems clear that Michael had something of a romantic and maybe even monogamous relationship with boys. Hence the heavy level of grooming that led them to defend him for so long. So yes he could have been an abuser without abusing every boy who came to Neverland.

    What was so special and wade and James, that deterred MJ from fondling the likes of Emmanuel Lewis, Macaulay Culkin, Cory Feldman, and Bred Barnes? Pedophiles exhibit a pattern of behavior and leave a trail of evidence, none of which the FBI or child protective authorities could track. So either MJ was this genius magician in chief who evaded a throughout FBI investigation, or the FBI was on that occasion, very lackluster.

    LN is a prosecution side, now compare it with the accusers changing stories of their testimonies of their ongoing civil suit against the Jackson Estate they are suing. Those guys also had the opportunity not only to sue while Jackson was alive but had 2 specic occasions in 1993 ad 2005 to come forward and if what they say is true, put an alleged child molester in jail. Instead they defended him (Robson as an adult even in court under cross examination). Just after Jacksons death and money problems, they are telling their story with many inconsistencies and proven lies. I see credibility issues and have my doubts. Jacksons lived an unique life and was an unique person in unique circumstances including Sneddon, a judical system which failed him (even though acquitted in 2005 , but with a weak case like this no other person would have dragged to court) and the money/sensational hungry mass media operating without journalistic integrity . You cannot compare the allegations (Chandler, Arvizo, and now those guys) 1:1 with the neighbour Joe or Caren. Makes no sense to me. He was a walking 1billion fortune and human. Michaels crime was being too nice.

    Oh dear oh dear, imagine getting a panel of 4 who all have the same viewpoint 🤦‍♂️As ever, none have done any research about either the "documentary" or the case that the guys have filed, in fact the "documentary" tells a very different story to that of the civil case, how is that possible 🤦‍♂️ What is also interesting is Michael Jackson is dead and was dead when both these men accused him, so he's never been able to deny the claims. What is truly hilarious is that when the MJ musical opened in the U.S and the U.K the media were obsessed and crying about the fact the allegations are covered, by the very same logic these panelists are using, why are there counter parts even talking about about the allegations in relation to the Musical, its not a documentary its a musical loosely based on rehearsals of the Dangerous world tour in 1992. As ever, I'm not surprised by the usual double standards applied here.

    The facts are, all the money in the world to gain from this exposure does not exclude the facts: 1. Michael Jackson's oddity and obsession was ignored. rationalized away. 2. He built his entire world around his "attraction" to children. 3. He isolated himself only (majority) with chikdren. 4. He isolated himself and the children alone with himself and them. Let me be clear: sleep overs. In his bed. 5. A paedophile is usually abused child molested and trapped as a youth. I do NOT rule this out, as a matter of fact its quite typical of greedy adults getting ahead by joining anti-holy groups. Then, hyptnozing away to hide ritual sales and use of children in Hollywood and Music with children. 6. He may have prided himself as not being a predator and rationalized away his predator nature to children. 6. Men are sexual creatures, especially when revered as deities in society. The nature is to procreate because they feel better. 7. I recognize the aforementioned and believe Michaels denial as a child predator or attraction to children to great extents was to unhealthy degrees to endanger children and adults (and it is attraction). 8. From studying all that is available, I do not believe Michael realized he was a child predator and attracted only to children to great extent. For, if he was to admit it, would remove deity status even he had to upkeep for "show". 9. I believe adult males that are sexual in nature as a general rule, abused and conditioned to be a deity for the alpha abuser and abused and conditioned to be submissive to the alpha adults cruelty...all while forced to a "role" "image" or else...by strong alpha scary adults kept him in a submissive child like state. 10. Someone obsessed with reading shared there is a theory that when a persons voice acts like a child when older, its because of the trauma as a child stuck him in that age to avoid more trauma. This theory, I agree with, not only with child predators but any any person with trauma young. So, consider this theory when applying to this case. 11. I believe it is possible, he never intended to be or hurt a child sexually. But, he could not relate or be attracted to normal adult relationships...only really children. But, now, add the piece of a mans sexual needs and only bonding with children...he created the breeding ground for it to happen. 11. Once confronted with that sexual need,, the predators know which ones they can shut up...12. Two children came forward as adults to claim Michael Jackson was sexually abusing them. 13. One had, "shady" untrustworthy integrity, atypical of victims of abuse acting out. One more in control compelled to help his truth be validated. 14. If abused why not financially gain as their lives will forever be inconsolable, as indicated by persistence to gain truth Do you know how much damage powerful deity rich people hurt true victims to preserve the "delusion" of deity over all others does to victims? 15. Now, the lethal blow to doubt of the victims: How dare you doubt and protect a predator and scorn and destroy a victim and claims when you have zero cases of adults besties living with those cchildren and not naturally living and socializing and bedding sleep overs with adult-indicating child predator...denied or not...doesnt matter? Unless your a satanic cult protector and defender ofnot letting truth be evident which are compelled at youth age to believe in wholeheartedly sin against children feeds the devotion to their deity lucifer, you cannot deny the child predator only relates to children. Now, add a mix of alcohol, drugs, furthering boundary crossing and rationalizing away actions under the influence and being a grown man with sexual needs. So, knock offyour abusing those that try to share the truth and help you see, money and deitizing a person is always going to hurt those that buy into deitizing any human being. Let victims gain off the pain of their truth. No amount of financial gain will ever heal the damage done to any victim of any evil. Now, to find forgiveness in being a victim? Know this, bullies and evil were victims first. Then know the truth no one wants you to know exists because its unseen like wifi: Ephesians 6:10-13. Put on all the armor and protection of Our Hallowed Father in Heaven as WE DO NOT FIGHT THE PEOPLE OF FLESH AND BLOOD. WE FIGHT THE POWERFUL UNSEEN RULERS OF THIS WORLD, who sock puppet everyone initiated into a group, or sock puppet unrepented ones. There is only one way free. You only have ONE powerful enough to help you conquer them. "With the faith of a mustard seed, you can move mountains, Do HIS wonders and Even more than His wonders. Do not worry about all the attacks and haters comments. Its not them. Its sock puppeted unseen evil trying to stop the evil secrets so evil breeds and breeds on your pain, fear. and lies. Forget all around you. If you truly want to heal from abuses, tell your truth, own it and focus only on your best friend and only true friend, Our Hallowed Father in Heaven. Hes got your back. For anyone who feels He turned His back on you? He didnt. If we werent duped to deitize image instead of Him...your little gut feeling maybe you would have heard...But, its too dulled by the brilliance of star and you get duped and sucked into the evil unseen trap. You will be more than ok if you focus on Him instead of the unseen tearing you down.

    I definitely can see how a grown man hanging out with little boys all the time looks sketchy, because it is. In this instance though, the two men come off as liars and opportunists in the film through their body language and choice of words. After all these years, especially testifying for him twice, knowing that other little boys could be potentially get molested, they now want to speak up after the man is dead? Really? These two don't have the money and the spotlight they were seeking through hanging out with Michael so now they'll take advantage of a dead man to gain their goals that they're too lazy to work for.

    His accusers had years to come forward but never did. It’s as though they thought they had more chance of winning financial damages after he was dead. This lurid documentary is the result of his accusers failed lawsuits, which got kicked out of court because they didn’t have a shred of evidence, apart from their own dubious accusations. The only two people in the world who know the truth of the matter are this pair; everyone else is guessing. And like I said in a previous post just because someone believes something doesn’t mean it’s true. • @user-rc1my2xc3s
    @user-rc1my2xc3s5 жыл бұрын

    -Michael was found not guilty of all charges in 2005. One of the accusers, Wade Robson was actually the first witness on the stand at the trial. He was adamant that Michael never touched him. Safechuck had also testified as part of the 1993 investigation. In life both of these men defended Michael. Robson even attended his private funeral and did TV interviews and wrote articles defending him. At the time their stories changed, Robson's career was going downhill and he was rejected from the opportunity to choreograph the MJ One cirque du soleil show, whilst Safechuck was being sued. Their case was thrown out of court. -There are many provable lies and inconsistencies in the two men's stories. For example: - Safechuck alleged (and described in vivid detail) that abuse began in June 88 on the Bad Tour in Paris and continued at the 89 Grammys iN New York. But Michael did not attend the 89 Grammys, nor was the event in NY. The 88 Grammys, held in March Michael did perform at. Therefore the Grammys happened BEFORE the Bad Tour Paris leg, so unless Jackson had a time machine he could not remember ongoing abuse at the Grammys. Safechuck's own mother testified in 2016 that James slept in the bed with her and not with Jackson. -Safechuck alleged that MJ cut contact at puberty and yet they are photographed together at the HIStory music video set, a quick Google can verify this. Safechuck would have been around 17. -Safechuck claimed that Michael called him and begged him to testify for the 2005 trial. Apart from the fact that it is the judge only who decides who testifies, Safechuck was legally considered a non-entity since he had signed documents for the 1993 investigation where he stated no abuse occured. This meant that legally he could not testify in 2005 and Michael would have known it would be pointless to try to persuade him as he could never testify on the matter again by US law. -Wade Robson claimed that Michael's businesses MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures procured him as part of an organised grooming operation. Yet MJJ Ventures did not even exist at the time and Joy, his mother, testified that it was her who initiated contact with Jackson. She also testified that she was upset that Michael did not spend as more time on Wade and at one point cut contact with him for six months because Michael did not call Wade soon enough when he was on tour. -Wade's story changed so much that he was questioned about his memory, which he claimed 'evolved'. A description of being told to dispose of bloody underwear after anal rape was never disclosed as part of the court case but mentioned in the documentary. His versions of when the abuse began keep changing and are different in the documentary and the 2016 deposition. -Wade claimed that he was unable to work in the entertainment industry in any capacity from the time of 'realising the abuse' (2013) until 2017. Yet a quick search will reveal many projects he was involved with during the time including running his own dance workshops. The

    A couple things - the argument that we are bearing witness assumes we are bearing witness to FACTS. While I understand the immediate cognitive & emotional response to watching and hearing something so horrific, there is a responsibility to research and back things up as fact -- at least those that can be. The alleged accusers & filmmaker state as fact that Culkin & Barnes were also abused and replaced them. Culkin & Barnes deny this -- so how is that not defaming or minimally warrant inclusion in the film? Joy Robson swore twice under oath that Wade went on the Grand Canyon trip & didn't stay alone with Jackson until '93. So is the panelist sure Wade spent so much time with Jackson or did what we just bore witness to change? Facts matter and somebody saying something does not make it fact, perjury is consequential. This film is no different than Roger Ales stating the loudest voice will be heard and believed. [I guess the truth and facts be damned]. I cannot scream "fire" in a crowded theater and site freedom of speech, but evidently b/c the panel had an inclination to already believe Jackson was guilty, the voices in the film are fact. No need for voices which could at least show mis-statements and mis-truths. So I can pick a dead person and create a narrative about them -- afterall can't defame the dead and now one sided 'bearing witness' is enough. SCARY TIMES! Life imitating Margaret Atwood's art. Neither the Right nor the Left have to live up to any standards when it concerns their pet causes. Very scary times when the 4th estate fans the very flames it should be helping to contain.

    The problem is, everyone knew, back in the day, that Michael Jackson dated little boys. He picked children whose families were greedy and pimped them out. Or he picked kids from single moms or poorer families. Just like most pedophiles do. He then bought these little boys expensive gifts and took them on extravagant vacations, grooming them like peodphiles do. He took them to premiers and to dinner, cuddling and holding hands like lovers. We all saw it and knew it was wrong. He admitted to sleeping with these unrelated little boys in the same bed, in what we later discovered was a secret bedroom chamber, that had alarms and cameras leading up to it so he would never be surprised. When his home was raided, this innocent "Peter Pan" had an "art" book filled with naked boys. Not illegal but not a coincidence either. The boys he dated were all prepubescent. He cycled through them, dropping them for a younger model, once they hit puberty. Just like most pedophiles do. So you can point to any discrepancies you want. Anyone who can't see that he was a child molester is either blinded by his fame and talent or is just stupid.
