MIT, UMass Amherst protestors arrested amid Israel divestment push
Today, Cambridge police arrested several protesters who were blocking an MIT building they believe houses drone research that benefits the Israeli military. A day earlier, 130 protesters were arrested at UMass Amherst after school officials called in police to clear out the pro-Palestine encampment there for a second time. Reporter Tori Bedford has been covering the protests closely for GBH. She joined Saraya Wintersmith with the latest.

First off how can you tell who the students are. Once the protesters do not follow a legal request by a police officer they are no longer a protester they are a criminal. Didn't the same protesters keep screaming, " NO ONE is above the law. " Thank You for proving your point.
Nothing in the Constitution gives protesters the right to abuse "freedom of speech". Nothing in the Constitution gives protesters the right to interfere with other people's rights nor to break the law. Do not use a right and privage to abuse others. Use "freedom of speech" correctly and not incorrectly.
University is a place to study n learn....not a place to demonstrate n destroy property.
They are being told what to say and think
Thank you for telling the truth about the nature and purpose of the encampment. Finally someone telling the truth.
Thankyou for mentioning the jewish students who opoose war crimes
$1000 fines 30 days in jail

Your article also says this lady is from TBH, but doesn't say what that group is or stands for.
It is rightfully so that the young shall lead the way. American leaders at all levels are showing their unwillingness to address human conditions on many levels. So, leave it to the ones who are coming up to demand human rights. Money and donors will leave the compromised stalled.
What makes these protesters think they're in any position to dictate to the university where investments should be made in the first place? They're there to take classes, get their education, then graduate so they can contribute to society. They should leave the running of the university to the paid administrators and advisory boards. These kids need to learn their place in the grand scheme of things. At 18, they don't know enough to know what they don't know...

Um… to answer your question they literally give the university their money. Protesting is contributing to society whether you agree with it or not.

@@carival They give the university money in exchange for an education, not for a say in how the university's endowment is invested, no more then an employee has a say in how a corporation is run by the officers and the board of directors.

They don't want their work used to oppress, murder or torture. Sounds reasonable. Their demand was to take no $ from ANY country credibly accused of human rights violations. What part of that is troubling?

Respecting universities I agree is a priority. I suggest that these protests have to do with an erosion of credibility of authorities. Of course many people would agree it is wrong to starve civilians. on the other hand, what do we see when Muslim societies get autonomy.Sharia.I feel all Muslims need to decide whether they eant the Sharia ie Afghansian or a moderate Islam.Musl8ms fail to protest fanatics.
Shameful, so much for land of the free, stop the war crimes

@@josephcross9684 most encampment protests are peaceful until an agitator arrives in case you weren’t aware. With all the video recordings online you’d think people would be less inclined to say things just for the sake of saying them…

An arrest record will come in handy while job searching in the near future.
100 people were arrested for speaking ? Isn’t there a clause in the constitution that applies to this very thing. Is the USA becoming like Russia ? Because this sure looks like that.

@@Uvoted4this : it depends on what the request is and if it’s legal or not. A request from an officer is not automatically a legal request just because it’s coming from an officer. I support law enforcement, and I respect what they do, and what they stand for. Police officers do not always follow the law, and when the constitution comes into play, and the requests are unconstitutional, my respect for that officer is challenged.
