Forgot to mention: the shifter is not very loud when compared to the Simagic or the pro-sim. It is louder than a fanatec shifter though, but it’s more of a clunk than a super loud audible sound. I will add a video in my discord in the #hardware-under-review channel.

Carl Goslin’s review says it doesn’t really have that mechanical feeling when sifting, that really put me off from getting the Mecca cup shifter. Gutted as they look aesthetically brilliant.

Hahaha I had to do something close to my heart. Rally would probably have been more popular but it doesn't test handbrakes anywhere near as much as drifting does.

i wonder what the sq shifter sounds like. This actually has a really small footprint, compared to the simagic sq shifters and the handbrake, but im wondering if the simagic would feel better with the mechanism they have, vice versa. I like that both the shifter and handbrake has a long shaft. great first impressions vid LD!

If you want to improve your drifting, as someone who basically only drifts on ac I would recommend trying to find the sweet spot in the throttle where you don't need to keep lifting on and off again. That was one of my big struggles and I hope I could help a little bit.

cool and fun video , its interesting to see these as I might be in the market for some soon. I do agree that the control box should / could be integrated into the actual unit, less wires and boxes floating about = less points of failure. Seem good products though

Thanks for the comment dude ❤️ yeah the control box thing is pretty ok once mounted although the need for 2 USB ports is probably a bigger ‘issue’.

I does seem like a huge missed oppertunity to not have both connections in one of those control-boxes. Like, you could maybe order the handbrake at one time, because you're, say, also using the Fanatec shifter, and then a couple of months later you order the shifter on their website, with the option to just check the box whether you already have the control-box or not. Other than that, I really like how this looks! Perfect for someone into Drift-games or RallyX. Great first impression LD, I love the dexterity to get that stint perfect

It’s decent. I had some issues with the piston that raises and lowers. Had to file down the button that activates the piston because otherwise the chair would just fall to its lowest setting every time I sat in it. Also there was some pressure damage on the seat bolster when it arrived but they sent be a new one. All in all the service has been A1 and the prices are great. I use it every day as my work from home chair

Can we talk Turkey :). You really liked the VNM handbrake (for which they have the new rally specific 1.5 version). How close or far apart in performance are the VNM and the Evo? For someone considering both, what are the things I should look at or take into consideration. Thanks!!

the VNM is still definitely my favourite of the 2. The MECA isn't bad by any means, but I just prefer the VNM

sure. It's more realistic than the heusinkveld handbrake. There's nothing really wrong with the HE but this just feels more serious.

Hey, what length are the profile you're using to mount both? 40x80x? Looks like the mounting slots on the shifter & handbrake are too wide to be fitted inline with the profile? Cheers

It has a really nice feel. great angle and throw. It's not as deep a clunk as the simagic or pro sim but it's a nicer feeling (for me) than the fanatec

They are pretty tall, looks a little uncomfortable, especially for the shifter I think they could've made them look a bit different to each other as well, seems it might be easy to confuse them in heat of the moment when they're that close.

You won’t be looking at them in the heat of the moment. You’ll remember their position though. The height is important to a lot of people as they like a ‘full height’ device. It means that your hand only moves left and right from the steering wheel without needing to also go down.

Must be really diffcult to drift with that level of onboard cam movement

It is :) when I drift for pleasure I don’t have any movement. But for content it’s important that the viewer is looking at what I’m seeing :) . When you have triple screens, you have great peripheral vision and don’t need the neck movement apps

Tempting. I don’t know enough about the simtrecs really. Fanatec shifter also has h pattern but if you don’t use that, the Meca sequential is definitely vetter

@@LaurenceDusoswa thanks for the follow up Laurence. The simtrecs pro GT's are a marvelous piece of kit. The combo with the sq and the HB is very nice I won't lie, kind of disappointed the expected availability just got pushed back to the end March :(

Oh that sucks! there should be no drivers needed. Try contacting Meca if you don't get sorted. download the software and try to calibrate it?

Have tried everything.. different ports and (with/without hub) different cables etc. and it is always connected properly and shown also correct as Meca Handbrake! But still no input comes from that thing. Tried also to contact them, but since almost an week no response, top noch Service. 👍🏻

@@LaurenceDusoswa Got it fixed! I had to use there Software and had to Calibrste it first. But.. 1st. thats never mentioned anywhere, and 2nd. On every Software on the Homepage it says.. Software for Pedals xx. and so on. nothing says for Shifter or Handbrake etc. 🤦‍♂️ And it takes very long to get an answer (he is probably alone or it is a very small company) what is not a bad thing at all! But it is what it is, still awesome Products and recommended 👍🏻

While they are awesome, their size make it awkward mount to anything smaller than a GT1 Evo or bigger rig, would rule out a load of people. However they do seem very cool! Great review Laurence!
