The first time I've heard morning colors since June 29th 1977. I didn't know I missed it that much until I played the video. On this Memorial Day, God bless every Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Airman and Coastie who have ever listened to Morning Colors knowing The Stars and Stripes still flies over a proud and grateful nation.

I find it changes where ever you go. Ft Riley you face the music. But at Gordon you face the flag, even if you're 10 miles away.

I went to electronics school at MCRD San Diego in 1967, remember colors and the Marine Marching Band. Sgt 1967-70, 1st MAW DaNang Vietnam 1969, MOS 2817.

Currently at 29 palms, is there by any chance you were an Aviation Radio Mechanic? If so, there are a ton of pictures of the classes that went through electronics school in the 60s.

I love that sound!

My neighbor is an ex Coastie and he plays this in his house twice a day while he puts up and takes down the flag. It's kind of cool!

08:00 where I am every morning. They play colors every morning except on fridays where they play supercolors. Super colors depends on where you are but where I am they play colors, national anthem, navy hymn (anchors aweigh) and the marines corps hymn last all in a row. My buddies in Okinawa say they also add the Japanese national anthem also over there. Hope this helps!

Negative. They did it accordingly. The carry on call is not for order arms but to carry on just like the call to attention is not present arms.

You salute at the first note and drop the salute after the last note, the carry on is well to carry on.

That’s more of an Army and Air Force thing. Navy, Marine Corps & Coast Guard does morning colors at 08:00 and evening colors at Sunset! Imagine having to watch a pennant to determine when to execute colors with twenty plus ships in port!
