McLaren Artura | The Hybrid Super Car Formula
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We do a first drive and quick look at the engineering behind the new Mclaren Artura. This next-generation vehicle uses a new platform to optimize hybridization that balances the best of old and new technology. Hopefully, the team did not engineer "out" the driver.

Didn't it also throw a warning for seat warmer malfunction during the drive? Just looking at that packaging gave me nightmares. Its almost like they built these cars to be run into the ground... How does a tech even get to the damn thing to change plugs... While I appreciate how quick their cars can be, its almost like no thought is given to working on the damn thing at all. @@mattymatte6289 the regular Mclaren ones: rusted body panels, bubbling paint, headlight faults, limp-home mode, carbon canister issues, pieces of trim falling off, HVAC logic board failures, cracked windshield. I don't think a day came by without me seeing a "return to Mclaren" message on the display. On a good note, I never had to wash my car in the year I had it. Admittedly, It lacks the drama and speed of the 570S, but the 6 speed is more fun and the engine sounds are glorious at any RPM. The 570 sounds like a tractor under 5K RPM and short-shifts all the time, so it is a bit dull unless you are ripping it. The 570 can get 30MPG, which is impressive. the GT3 can't beat 18. I plan on keeping the GT3 for the duration. I admit that I would get another Mclaren someday, if they improve the QC and engineering. The company does go the extra distance to make every buyer feel special.

When you say McLaren as a brand isn't pretentious, you're absolutely spot on. Try getting let out of a junction in a bright yellow GT3 or a 488/F8/whatever. You'll be waiting a while. McLarens seem to get the same response as Lotus - people stop to talk to you, they wave, they generally react positively to it. I would say it's the only supercar manufacturer that doesn't shout "I'm richer than you."
Can't wait to see the 987 Cayman video you guys eventually do.
The Artura has been getting nothing but good reviews so far. I hope this thing live up to they hype. I really like. Also, Savagegeese is hands down the best automotive journal online. Mike and Jim knock it out of the park on a consistent basis.
Videos like this are the reason why this is my favorite car channel I like all the little technical shit lol

Fantastic interview. Thank you Geoff for your time and knowledge. Great video as usual.
Nearly spilled a tear for you two. You're doing so well now. Keep it up!
New dream car unlocked! This and a 992 GT3 RS and I can die happy lol. The engineering, particularly the forward-thinking hybrid drive train and axial-flux motor that is a perfect fit for its use-case are things engineers dream of. No one wants excess baggage or unnecessary complexity, but the right necessary complexity to magnify the impact of traits like driver responsiveness, engagement _and_ efficiency is just a rare and set of problems and resources to be presented with. Kudos to the team at McLaren and their partners that made this car possible!
Incredible as always. Love these Q&A sessions with the designers. Great work Jack!

McLaren reminds me a lot of Honda’s philosophy to driver appeal rather than brand image. Great review btw.
Glad you asked about the hydraulic steering
It looks pretty nice and the performance is great, but the thing I liked the most is the sound. It's a bit less loud than any of the V8s but it has a muuuch nicer tone, especially on the interior! 😃
I love this soundtrack; 80s action movie theme.
its beyond me how someone can hate mbux but doesnt trash this infotainment system here
Still can’t believe they went through the effort to make a truly balanced 120 degree V6
So, while I love the coverage of the car in the title, and look forward to possibly driving it in one of those expensive track day packages like they offer in Vegas, are we just going to ignore that beautiful CRX sitting behind you in the final thoughts? I want some details and a short (or not short) piece on that - those are great fun little cars. That one in particular had the SiR badge, which hopefully means it was B16 swapped to be just like the foreign only actual SiR model. :) Get a camera on that thing and give us a modern "retro" review of that awesome piece of Honda tech.

Man as much as I want to love this car something with the design for me (for me, not you) leaves something to be desired. That being said I love seeing the inner workings of the two powertrains almost as an automated diagram, really cool.
I know the hot vee set-up has been in the car industry for awhile, but putting 2 turbos in the V of a V6 or V8 is still very cool
It’s about time the rear suspension is now multilink because my 570S handles like my daily commuter Dodge Diplomat with bias-ply tires.
Great video! An amazing car I'm sure... though the funny thing is I've seen much cleaner looking carbon layups in canoes, lol. Maybe they don't worry about ripples in the layup because people won't see most of them behind body panels?
Awesome review to say the least, no one has extracted even half as much information on this car like you did Jack. That said this one is a double tough sell for me (note the team of McLaren staff working with influnceres for the very first time ever?), as it is nick named the baby P1 but it is nearly the same weight even though it is down hundreds of horse powers via 2 cylinders. When the the 720 came out it was lighter and faster than the P1...and I kind of hoped they would keep going that way as a desired result. Now, by the sounds of it, the Artura is the 570 replacement at the same weight and 100hp more...
uhh that CR-X at the end looks sick... more on that, please?
Mclaren is probably my favourite brand
Great car

What is that song at the beginning of the video? Gave me Scarface vibes. Excellent
Nice, best looking Mclaren ever other then the p1. I think this new v6 might actually be better sounding then there previous v8. The AMG-GT series cars use a hydraulic steering aswell.

I think everyone who bought a 570 thought the car would be more reliable than the P11 platform of cars are not going to buy this. Lots of owner's who tried McLaren ownership with the sports series line might be forever avoiding the brand because they said that line was the same thing. Now we introduce more electronics which might cause more problems.
