Traditional music session meets orchestra: Backyard Polka & Segue Jig is a medley of original tunes written in traditional styles. In these sessions, each tune is played 3 times before moving on to the next one. It is inherently repetitive, giving different players a chance to put their own spin on the melody. To adapt this custom to the orchestral stage, I have chosen a bookended structure of Polka 1x - Jig 3x - Polka 1x. Even the tuba gets a chance at melody. This is an investment in local community music.
