McGregor: "When I get that rematch with Khabib, it will be an easy rematch"

Спорт

TSN UFC reporter Aaron Bronsteter spoke with Conor McGregor ahead of his UFC 257 bout with Dustin Poirier about how he was forced to slow down and dedicate himself to MMA during 2020, how much of a different fight he is expecting with Poirier in the rematch, a potential rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov and more.

Definitely not conducive with what I have interpreted from his recent interviews. Conor has seemingly made the journey from making “cocky” remarks about himself and the performances he has made..(granted...he’s really boosted his voice by backing it up) .....now recently from his interviews....that “cocky” persona has become void in my opinion. Conor has become sincere.....being able to articulate sincere statements that are related to yourself, without revealing “tells” that remove validity.....is not easily accomplished by those who don’t absolutely believe in their words. Conor has been busy I’m sure.....but it’s obvious that he has spent a considerable amount of time on self realization and his words now reflect that. I’m not naive about statements that are related to marketing and I’m not talking about that. Conor making statements about how he could easily defeat himself from 2020 and 2016.....how he is currently focusing on his next 2 fights mentality....it’s a completely different human in a way. Khabib is one of the greatest...if not the greatest UFC competitor ever.......Khabib is not interested in fighting Conor...for the same reason he’s not interested in fighting Dustin.....they have solution. Khabib has consistently made his own job easier, without having to do anything extra in the octagon......because Khabib has created this perception (rightly so) that a tremendous amount of preparation for his opponents...is spent training in defending his takedowns. It causes his opponents to create their own downfall....focusing on the takedown defense...not on their own personal strengths that got them there in the first place. Watch Khabib v Dustin.....Khabib v Conor.......when they start to become offensive towards Khabib.......Khabib is easily sent into a scramble. He automatically back foots towards the cage.....coordination with his guard begins to fail.......becoming a open target. The continuation of speed and violence in those scenarios...defeat Khabib’s flow.....his plan.....and his control. That’s why the frustration from Conor after the Khabib fight was so bad....same with Dustin. Khabib doesn’t want the rematch with neither one of them in my opinion because of that. So....Khabib mentions Olivera.....using Dana White’s mouth....multiple times in the press conference for that very reason. Khabib’s own coach has said multiple times since the first fight......Conor is Khabib’s biggest threat........I believe that he is absolutely correct

@@worldtree2027 I mean, that's clear that Khabib dominated him, but after watching Khabib vs Poirier and Justin, I think Conor had the best defense out of them. So if there is a guy who deserves a rematch, is Conor. I mean, it's true that Khabib is the best without an argument, but the only person who can might beat him is Conor. At least in this division.

@MMAorNada he turned around and clocked the shit out of that one dude. Lotta people in that octagon so it’s hard to see. Search for slow motion replays of the exact moments. The dude sucker punched him.. it was like he tapped him to get his attention and then Conor turns around like wtf and jabbed the shit out of him. Dude stepped back like a hard jab hurt the hell out of him. Maybe he shouldn’t rev up and sucker punch people if he has noodle arms and no power whatsoever. Conors jab slipped through like two or maybe three guys holding them back it was beautiful. You don’t know wtf your talking about. Do your research before speaking.
