Matt is a National treasure. He is so good at his profession and you can tell he knows that he is blessed to have a job that he loves doing what he adores. .

My GGgrandfather served in the 5th Mass light artillery. Cpl Benjamin Laurence Graham. The Nation Lives. Great battle walk. Under appreciated subject. Brave honorable men.
My favorite Matt Atkinson battle walk ever! Had no clue about LTC McGilvery! Could be considered the hero of July 2nd...
Thank you StuffWriter, I can't get to Gettysburg. I'm in a wheelchair and wanted to go but I can't, thanks again
Yay StuffWriter! Happy Independence Day, Sir. And THANK YOU for sharing these great videos with us. I wish I could be there all the time. I was born in PA, and would live on that battlefield if they'd let me. You are doing us all a great service. 😊
Love Gettysburg artillery. My GGG grandfather was there with Pattersons confederate battery.
Stuffwriter, Thank You so much, for your dedication at putting out such fine videos, so that we can all watch and see these amazing lectures by the park rangers. Matt Atkinson is my all time favorite.
So nice to see you again, Matt. Always enjoy your videos. Hope all is well with you.
Thank you stuffwriter!!! So happy to see Matt again!

Why no Medal of Honor for McGilvery ?

@@markcrampton5873 It's rare that artillermen receive the MoH. It wasn't till 2014 that Lt Cushing received one for action on the 3rd in which he lost his life manning his piece near the angle.

@@howardclegg6497 that was more specifically because MoHs were not awarded posthumously during the war. And McGilvery didn't survive the war either...

APPRECIATE YOU MATT!!!!
I have to admit I’m a Matt Atkinson fanboy (all the way out in Eastern Idaho)
Another well done production. Your filming is very good and Matt has gotten better with age. I miss my Gettysburg visits, but your videos help fill that void.
This presentation was edifying!
Well done video, thank you
Brilliant thanks for sharing with us 👍
I love Ranger Matt!
I am remember that Armistad-Walk very well. Jesus, we are doing this for a long time.
Again, Dan Sickles! The unavoidable General, in terms of Gettysburg! We all love Dan!
Great idea to insert photographs as Matt is speaking about the cannons.
Thanks much Stuff.
My first trip to Gettysburg and I was on that bus
Love the vids! To anyone seeing this....anybody vid the Barksdale 21st Mississippi battle walk on July 2?
I believe the mystery battery in McGilvery's line was Battery C, 3rd Massachusetts, Captain Aaron Wolcott.
God bless Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and all who fought to save the USA and end African American slavery.

How did that work out for you?
They must've had lots of Belgian Budweiser horses pulling all those heavy guns😮
Just like being there
Matt is absolutely the G.O.A.T. 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🏆
Freeman McGilvery's defiance of General Hancock's irresponsible artillery orders on July 3 probably saved us from defeat during Longstreet's assault. But that's another story.

🇺🇸👍

Pink shirt guy wins this years - "I'll be in every shot I can" award .... just sayin'
I’m sorry, but we’re not here to learn about the history of a ranger. We are here to learn about the artillery of this battlefield all all the little anecdotes, the personal asides, cheers for the crowd, and the other things, cut them. This two hours long!?

Precisely. This Ranger is always silly and cracking jokes on HALLOWED ground. What’s funny about 700,000 battle deaths? Yet the goobers always fall in love with him. Disrespectful junk.
