This superman is based on how he appeared in the Superman: Lois and Clark comic mini-series that happened at the tail-end of the New-52. This superman is the returned post-crisis Superman. who is married to Lois and now they have a son; Jon Kent. He wore this suit to differentiate himself from New 52 Superman. It's worth checking out that series if you get the chance. It leads to the Rebirth story which is this same Superman who ends up having to take the place of the New 52 Superman once that Superman dies. McFarlane is doing a decent enough job representing the last few years worth of Superman stories in this line.

Mcfarlane should make a deluxe superman with four different heads one smiling head one stern head one angry head and firing up his laser eyes head and laser eye effects and a wired cape if he ever makes that mcfarlane would probably be making the best superman figures on the market out there that you wouldn't have to pay 300 dollars for.

See, for me anyway, I have so many flight stands at this point that I don't mind skimping on them in lieu of other accessories. BUT at the same time, every action figure is someone's first figure, so I can see why the flight stand is an affordable and practical pack-in. Still, imagine that bearded head angry, heat vision flared up as an alternate. That's be a lot of fun.

I also used my Supboy P head on my TDKR Supes. That headsculpt and that beefy body is my favorite among my collections so far. Probably, I will just paint the neck and closed fists with Citadel or Vallejo to match the skin tone. For the original TDKR Supes blockhead, I used it on my WH40k Blood Angel lol

That's a good idea! And yeah, the Prime head is awesome and really versatile.

I've seen people put the AC 1000 upper torso on the Rebirth waist piece. It looks pretty cool. As for this figure, I'm tempted, but I try to only buy one of each character now.

In general, the black suit started as a special Kryptonian recovery suit that allowed him to absorb more solar energy, which is what brought him back from the dead. In the Lois and Clark comic, he is operating as Superman in secret and is wearing the black suit to be stealthy.

I'm curious, do the fists on this fit the Action Comics 1000 Superman?

The Superboy Prime head on the Action Comics 1000 Superman body is perfect! I bought 2 Superboy Prime figures for just this purpose. There's a very Curt Swan end of Silverage/beginning of Bronze age feel about it.

It's funny you say that, I realized I accidentally lied. I said in the video I got it at GameStop for 19.99, but I completely forgot I also got mine on sale. In fact, I bought him at the same time as Robin, AND had my monthly $5 coupon, so I actually got him for $15.

Jolly good review sir. Agree with you that Kal 1000 is best but these Bizarro variants are still great! McFarlane is giving us Superman fans the best superseding all predecessors who had the DC license.

Yeah. We talk about all the overabundance of Batman figures, but we have been pretty spoiled when it comes to Supes. A much greater variety of villains than even Batman so far. Really hoping for Cyborg Superman and Parasite! And herowise, I would LOVE a Steel.

how did you put action comic 1000 superman head on solar body? head and peg come out on solar but only head on the 1000 for me :(

It's been a while, so I am little fuzzy, but I think what I did was pull the peg out of Solar's head and put 1000 on it. If you do it, head the head in water, hold the head, and gently tug it out with a pair of pliers. Don't heat the head too much though or it can warp when you squeeze the ball.

Not sure. Haven't seen her yet. Part of me doesn't want to because of how much I did not like the first version, but another part of me really wants to compare the two and see if that new paint job makes a difference. So, we'll see! Hope you enjoyed this one, I know you have been looking forward to it!

How do you feel about the mafex superman vs mcfarlene 1000

Would love to get one in hand to check out, but a bit above my pay grade. What I will say about Mafex is (aside from the plethora of hands/accessories and great articulation), the thing to remember is that they are 6" scale, so it would be a better replacement for your DCUC Supes if you want to build a larger collection.

@@5POAFigureReviews yes i was asking because I have both with the 1000 supes on way, I like them both for different reasons, though mafex scales well with the 6inch, alot of the old mattel dcu collectibles and such are lacking in terms of sculpting and accessories , not all but alot, kinda pales in comparison to mcfarlene, it feels mafex is a tweener..really great but lacks variety across the field, though they scale well with marvel legends, hence why I ended up ordering supes 1000 as I have many neca and mcfarlenes..but I wrote this to say its crazy the 20 dollar supes may be a superior buy overall to the 100 dollar plus supes in terms of playability..mafex runs really small..its like me there gonna be good for display, I hope they expand greatly and start churning out more key players...then we may see a shift back to 6inch idk just thoughts...but I think supes 1000 is holding down the title for overall best supes, especially after you add the fabric cape its a wrap to me

Being the superman I am I had to get this. Didn't think I would like it as much as I do. Never much of a fan of the black costumes. To date I have all the Superman figures McFarlane has.m except one. That freaking target exclusive.

I don't have the Animated ones, the Red Son figure, or the Metal one. And to be honest, I am on the fence over Ultraman, but we'll see. I do want that Starro.

@@5POAFigureReviews ultra man is really cool. Would have preferred a meaner face. The cape is really heavy so it tends to want to fall back. Wish it would have come with a flight stand. Can't wait for the rest of starro to come out. The detail is great. And the the small starro was very well done and fun to put on any of the figures.

Waiting for a doomsday that isn't batman.
