I bought both because I like both and bought a new 52 superman figure.

Gonna buy the DKR one and do a headswap on him like I did with DKR batman. I don't get why so many toy companies give us these characters with the "I just shit myself in public" expression, their faces are like that for like a panel in the comics 😂

Yeah...DKR Batmans gets a lot of those constipated faces for sure, but this is definitely the most extreme face I have seen on a DKR Supes. Wish I had the Mattel one to try on him tbh

@@5POAFigureReviews you know, I was thinking the same thing as you, it's just whether the head will peg into the joint properly as you say. It's weird, these are some of McFarlane's best figures in terms of body sculpts (imo) but the heads just let them down

Great review, love the comparison, but what does the Superboy Prime head look like on DKR Superman? lol I also love to mix and match my collection, I do use the DC Essentials Flash, and even took my DC Essentials Superman head and put it on the Action 1000 Superman. I think it works better with the body. I'm still going back and forth if I need this DKR Superman. I don't want the whole set, and it definitely wouldn't be my "main set" Superman. But next thing I can't wait for is Aquaman. I currently have the New 52 Aquaman fig, and I love the long hair and beard of the new McFarlane one coming.

I am also really excited for the new Aquaman. Currently, the Essentials one is the main Arthur in my collection. I'm still on the fence about the rest of the DKR wave. I feel like I should do Batman, and Carrie Kelly is one of my favorite Robins. And then I'm just a Joker away from a really cool horse, so....ahhhh lol

Enjoyable video, as always. That Rebirth Superman is really only good for mixing his parts with Action Comics #1000 and Infected’s trunks to make a perfect McFarlane Superman. I saw a video of the custom job and completely ripped off with some modification. I took the AC upper torso and cape, added Rebirth’s lower torso, arms, head, and legs with Infected trunks. I painted the trunks and boots the correct red. Rebirth’s head sits too high up on AC’s neck, so I Dremeled the head to sit lower. I also added some shading on the AC neck to match the Rebirth head. The big problem with joining the AC upper torso to Rebirth’s lower is that due to the lower bring thicker than stock, it doesn’t fully pop together. The ball peg in AC’s upper torso is shorter and angled, so I had to take the inner piece out, cut the ball pegs off each one and pin the Rebirth’s ball peg inside AC’s upper torso. Once I got the proper length, Superman is now the appropriate height and beefiness with double jointed arms and non-skinny legs. No Supes I can find tops it.

@@5POAFigureReviews I’m VERY happy with it. I only went in detail of what I did to help give inspiration to others so they could do it. It’s a little bit of work, but the pay off is tremendous and what McFarlane should have given us to begin with.

I had to kitbash my Rebirth Superman with my extra Superman 1000 figure. Took the upper torso of Superman 1000 inplace of the Rebirth Superman Torso. He looks more Fit than rod'ed up. Also painted the Boots red for good measure, for a Superman Reborn look.

yes the DKR superman did have a yellow "S" on the back of his cape

Aside from lack of bicep swivel and side eye DKR Supes wins it for me. That entire line is great and baf horse is a great bonus

Yes sir big superman fan here. So far the only one in the McFarlane line I didn't get of superman was death metal. I just was unimpressed. I plan to get the whole dark knight wave.

I also skipped the Death Metal, but I usually see it pretty cheap at cons and toy shows, so I may get it at some point. I also don't do the animated style ones. Otherwise, I really love them. Action Comics 1000 is main Supes in my collection, and I love the Unchained Armor.

@@beowulf1944 for me. I really liked rebirth supes and bats. Lobo and swamp thing are amazing figures. So while Superman is my favorite superhero lobo and swamp thing are probably my favorite of the line. I'm just enjoying the McFarlane line. Dark knight wave is great.

I think your rebirth Superman is wonky. Mine can look up or forward in flight really well. Don’t know why yours is like that. Maybe it’s part of the sculpt stopping it. Great review!

So... for me this figure only works in flight poses, but because he is so beefy definately packs a super punch. Batman, Robin, Superman Joker ranked in this line. I'd love to see a joker comparison vid.

Why does no one know how to articulate the Superman rebirth head? Mine goes all the way back, and they all do. The hair is soft so that it's possible

I never did like the rebirth Superman by Mcfarlane since his body looked weird to me, the upper torso was big while the lower one was small so it did looked goofy to me. But after getting him and seeing him in person, he doesn't look that bad as I thought it would be, but still I prefer the action comics 1000 Supes, but other than that this is still a good Superman figure(lets not talk about the boots, it's a disgrace).

I may yet do that as its own video, but I did this one this way because both figures are available at retail right now, whereas 1000 is only available on the aftermarket.

Same. That's why I have been collection old DC Universe Classics. Def not as good as a modern figure, but a lot of gold in that line.

I’ve bought my last DC figure. My flash broke, Lex Luther broke. I’m in box collecting Batman 66. But Mcfarlane 7 inch DC line I’m out done finished with his crappy toys.

Glad you enjoyed it, but he does not. I even dug him out of the bin to double check. He has a single joined swivel elbow to compensate for not having him.

I image with enough heat you separate the boots from the legs, but keep in mind that the Dark Knight Returns are much wider, so they wouldn't match. You'd be better off stealing boots from the upcoming Hush Superman or using Infected Superman and repainting them. You could also just switch the whole legs from Action Comics 1000. The blues match.

Great video. I definitely dislike both of these figures. Hard pass for me.

I picked these two because they are both bigger, bulkier versions of Superman who happen to be on shelves at the same time, so you have your pick of which one you'd prefer. Action Comics 1000 is my favorite Superman in my collection, though.

Dark knight returns superman is uvky doesnt even look like himself. Based on frankmillers inability to draw good and his bad understanding of superman. Which if he actually knew superman ages slower because lf his krptonian blood and the power he gets from the son.

Nope. Those boots on rebirth is enough for me not to get it.
