MC Eiht Reveals How He & DJ Quik Ended 6-Year-Long Beef
Ойын-сауық
Though MC Eiht and DJ Quik are now amicable with one another, they had an infamous beef that lasted nearly six years. In a recent sit-down with VladTV, the "Streiht Up Menace" rapper gets candid about the vicious back and forth he had with Quik.
Eiht cites the tension between him and Quik as a byproduct of the pair's rival Blood and Crip affiliations. The Compton rapper says the beef popped off after the release of his song, "Def Wish." Eiht spits the line "Biting me quick will mean you get my d*** sucked quick." Though Eiht claims "he never knew who he was," because Quik was a Blood many took the wordplay as a direct shot at the rapper.
DJ Quik later responded to the line on his demo tape with a personal threat to Eiht, whom Quik wrongly thought called him out. The beef ensued for years afterwards and it hit a new level when DJ Quik mentioned MC Eiht's neighborhood in a song. Things between the two men got so heated that MC Eiht remembers Suge Knight and his crew pulling him over to talk about the beef, but it was only to assure him that things weren't going to get out of hand.
During the conversation MC Eiht also spoke about ending his beef with Quik and recording a song with him later that night, which you can hear about in the above clip.

Eiht was one of the best storytellers in the game. Listening to his music you can actually visualize what was happening. "Little did he know Miss Daisy's in the kitchen Standing cooking chicken, 9 started clicking. Ran up to the back of the house like releigh races. Just like a train robbery, bandanas on their faces." Both him and Quik were my favorite SoCal rappers.

Eiht specifically says he wasnt trying to mix the two. If he was simply the hardass non thinking and emotional and insecure moron youre trying to make him out to be he would have taken the first diss personally enough to have wasting a clip in Quik. Instead, he handled it like a creative artist, they both did. Eventually, they squashed it like men.

However wish it wouldn’t have lasted as long as it did, most of the time it’s misconstrued, or you have snakes playing each other, pointing fingers at one another that’s in the middle of it all. Wish Pac, and Big could’ve reconciled, would’ve loved an album with those two. I’m sure they’re good now though. 🙏🏾💯

He performed at the Red Velvet in ATL at the height of his career Str*upMenace. The homies were out that night it was the best concert of my life. We were in the front and I gave Eiht my blue locs with the blue lenses. It was all love in there and Cali was in the house deep. This was a good interview. It reflects a period in time where even the hood had a code. How peace was still attainable even in the hood when folks fell out. Cant do that today
Dope. Great interview & shtoopid interesting! Propz MC Eiht, real talk.
N.C breed but since the early 80s I been listening to West Coast music. Big ups to the both of you . That was a needed interview. ✔

I'm digging the old school interviews i.e. Eiht, Tray-Dee, Redman. These behind the scene stories are amazing.
I've been a fan of them both from the beginning so glad to see their still here in good health and grown up
