Alonzo Williams On Ice Cube's Gangster Status: He's a Good Actor

Ойын-сауық

www.vladtv.com - World Class Wreckin' Cru founder Alonzo Williams spoke exclusively to VladTV about various topics, more specifically his early days spent with Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and DJ Yella.
After explaining why he hadn't seen Ice Cube in over twenty years until the "Straight Outta Compton" premiere, Williams revealed that Ice Cube actually thanked him for giving him a start. When asked about Ice Cube's true gangster status, Alonzo revealed that Cube was never really down, adding the rapper is just a "good actor."
Speaking further, Alonzo believes that he was the most gangster out of himself, Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, as he actually faced attempted murder charges for shooting up a club back in the day. Williams did give Eazy-E props, however, for actually being from the streets like he rapped about.
Check out more of what Alonzo had to say in the above clip, including his reaction to DJ Yella sleeping with his girl in "Straight Outta Compton."

Everyone thinking Eazy wasn't that dude because they saw some movie. They made dre and cube look tough. Eazy E was cripping and hustling the rest of them were rappers. They wait until he dies to portray him as soft

+fuckyalife52212 well they are stupid or they don't know shit about 90's hip hop and need a quick lesson lmao most likely both but eazy was far from soft in the movie to me he was trill asf and notorious was trash in my opinion and plus if it was so "far off" from the truth the family should've stepped in and said something

+Dontaydra Bowens the family wasn't included they watched the finished results like us. The only one that was involved was the woman he married in the hospital. Notorious was closer to actual events then SOC. They had pack in the movie but no bone. They made it look like Eazy went broke as soon as Dre left which is a lie. They made Dre look like the hero the movie should've been called the chronic. I'm not expecting it to be totally accurate but come on the ending though😀😀😀 you can't tell me Dre didn't make this about him

He spoke on how our music influences us I had this debate with many people and it baffled me how they didn't understand what seemed to me very obvious. From the gangsta bs to the sexual bs that women are portraying is ridiculous. This the epitome of selling your soul. The women may never be looked at as guilty but the oversexualization of any culture is even more detrimental than the violence. Look it up JD Unwin "Sex and Culture"

Cube carried guns on tour just like everybody else did in the crew. cube faced the same issues as eveyone else diet from police profiling to growing up in the hood. he survived and was able to pull himself out of there and stay out. that's what makes him gangsta. any real gangsta will tell you that there quick out on the streets. the OGs was activists and neighborhood protectors that went to college and gave back to the hood. why you got to be in a gang to be gangsta. every gang member would be out the hood in a second if they was making enough money and it was stable and guaranteed not to get jacked. Cube got more respect in every hood in America than anyone commenting or Alonzo too. real gangsta

No one is saying it but groups like N.W.A perpetuated a big part of the "gangsta" lifestyle. While we were in the streets being subjected to the content of the songs these people made, these dudes came from good households- Eazy E, Ice Cube were just too dudes who had a successful mother and father- Ice Cube's parents are both teachers I think. My parents were not teachers; my parents were hood people, foodstamps, welfare, social security and workers compensation were some of the things I knew of coming up in the ghetto. We were living like this before N.W.A was famous and before their music had an effect on us. These dudes were rapping about other peoples live and not their own.

people salty as hell that these interviews showing NWA's true colors. behind the smoke and mirrors for the most part are normal people who grew up in the ghetto, NWA was just an elaborate exaggeration of their life stories or other people's stories. they portrayed an image and used it to blow up and sell records

What NWA did was destroy the community. There are cats that are death because they listened to “gangsta rap” and thought all those studio gangsters really banged lol.

The environment trains you for it and to break out of the environment requires you to reject just almost all of the values you were taught and requires you to throw away how you've learned to live and start new. If you're middle class imagine throwing all of what you were taught away, distancing yourself from friends, staying away from where you grew up, rejecting beliefs your parents imparted on you and now go try being a thug? You probably don't want to do that, it's scary, and it's the same for those of us who came from those type of environments. It's often hard to see what's wrong when everything you've been taught has told you how you're living is right.

Everybody on here arguing about who did they homework on another man better. "He ain't no gangster" "He ain't from ____" "He associated with ____!" Regardless of what you read online, unless you KNOW the guy......you don't know shit and you're arguing about nothing. The end.

we see what u are gettin at but just because dr dre or ice cube made great records, it doesnt give them a pass for being fake lying about a lifestyle which alotta ppl got killed .. if ur gona promote it atleast be real about it, whats the point of being a fake gangster ??

Sm0kinThug If Cube or Dre weren't talking about that lifestyle, it would be left up to nbc/abc/cbs to tell the story. If no one was talking about the lifestyle, we would all be crying about how ignored we are. Now someone is telling it, we want to bring into question their credibility and be mad about that. Maybe they weren't the ones to pull the trigger in any of the killings they talk about...but who is the last "real" gangster you've heard reach the general population with anything? Take it or leave, they are telling somebody's truth.

...also, the last real g I recall hearing much of anything about was right before Stanly "Tookie" Williams was executed. We're so close to the trees, we can't see the forest (We so busy arguing over trivial details that we can't take advantage of any progress that is being made in our favor. It's a waste of time trying to validate someone we don't know.)
