MBNA has recently made the decision to drop their MBNA Alaska Airlines World Elite and Platinum Plus Mastercards. Is the end of Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan?
Well, it's a little more complicated than that seeing as MBNA has a few tricks up their sleeves.

Prince Of travel is the reason i know what to do with my credit card! thank you for the very informative videos!
Hi Ricky: thank you for your expert insight. Looking forward to your videos on the upcoming new Cathay Pacific- Neo travel card for Canadians. I’d also love to hear your thoughts about the announcement of AmEx platinum annual fee increase for Canada Amex platinum holders.
i don't think Costco count as grocery store. In credit card category, it counts as wholesale store. if 5% reward can apply to Costco, people will go crazy for this card.

Walmart super stores at least count as grocery

What’s a good card for Costco? I recently got a nbc world elite cc and it’s labeling my Costco expenses as “shopping”
@VirtousStoic

@@abekor70sadly nothing, not expert opinion but I suggest the westjet rbc world elite. Although westjet isn't an airline that flies worldwide so check their destinations before signing up. But for sure it's way better than the crap costco card

Only some Walmarts count as grocery.

@@VirtousStoic if Costco is labeled as general “shopping”, then we must find a card with bonus points on shopping. But then again, Costco is a grey area.
If I understand correctly, the transfer window is one year only. Meaning however amount you can rack up within the next year.

Mbna sucks so idc would never use them, but good video and info anyway hes awesome
Is Alaska Miles any good if you travel to South America (more specifically Brazil)?
Oh man... makes me wish I was Canadian. But I can't complain as we Americans have so many points options. But I do love those Alaska miles.

Discover chase amex cards is all u need depending on usage. Plus the card offers for shopping in amex us platinum is insane. And mbna is a scum bank But this video is useful and nice anyway i love ricky dude is a legend
Can on hold 2 or more MBNA World elite concurrently?
I can’t find any useful partner tickets on Alaska website now, what happened? Why AS parters don’t release rewards tickets ? Before pandemic, AS is the best reward program in Canada , 50K business to Asia, now is “garbage “, the only interesting redemption is YVR to Fiji / New Zealand on limited dates, sadly I am in YYZ and time is not flexible
Does mbna give 5x at Walmart supercentres
i own a cobalt card and everytime i go to costco i switch to either cash or my buddy's mastercard🙄 bcoz it doesnt work there
i think in the end it will be like 2:1 kinda transfer ratio. 1:1 is too good to be true and not sustainable.

The said in official communication it’ll be 1:1
No reason to keep AMEX cobalt any longer with new mbna world elite card

The Cobalt is a great keeper card. Even if MBNA becomes transferable to Alaska Miles. the Cobalt's 5x earn rate in popular categories and transferability to Aeroplan, British Airways. and others, makes it world class.
So do you need to be legacy cardholder to get the ability to transfer to Alaska Miles?
@doom2060

Nope

Nope, all MBNA Rewards World Elite cardholders should have the ability 🎉
With Cobalt, you can buy gift cards at grocery stores, and get the 5 points per $ spent.... Is it the same with this MBNA card?

Amex USA is cracking down on customers with too many repetitive gift card purchases, particularly $500-$508... I wonder if Amex Canada will start doing the same...
