Every time I eat Wendy's I listen to this video. Right now, as I type, I've got this video loaded up for when I eat Wendy's in a bit. Eventually, this video will produce such a ravenous Pavlovian response in me that whenever I pass by it on autoplay I'm going to turn into a ferocious animal.

This bit might be my favorite of all time. Seriously, when they talk about Justin wandering through the streets of Huntington with mason jars, I always laugh so hard. First time I snorted so hard I hurt myself. True spirit of McElroy content

as someone who learns a lot of new words from reading and then ends up pronouncing them horribly and landing in embarrassing situations - Thank you for this. I honestly don't think I ever connected that audibly and visually (I have heard it/read it, just didn't connect)

No problem, I actually used to tutor English, so if you have any other words you've seen but never heard out loud and would like to double-check, please feel free to list them for me and I can give you some phonetic help! It can be very hard to attach words to sounds if you've never heard/seen them paired together before, particularly in cases like "sachet" where the word may look vastly different than it's pronunciation. It's a totally understandable issue! Good on you for reading and educating yourself that way, it's no less valid than any other method, and it's okay to ask for verification or help! Never feel bad for learning and improving yourself, even if you pronounce or spell something wrong at first. That's why I made the edit to my original post, I didn't want to seem rude but rather, to help people like you! I'm glad I could be of assistance. :) Keep on reading!

Thank you very much for the compliment, it means a lot to hear and isn't a weird thing to say at all! :) I just like to help people, and I know that especially if someone is reading or self-educating, particularly younger people, it's easy to misread something or struggle with a pronunciation when lacking other or prior context for the word(s). Especially if someone has never heard it out loud before, it's going to be naturally tricky to figure out! Even myself and other English tutors came across words that we had to research more in-depth to find phonetic guides for, especially words that are no longer in common or modern use, or we would need to consult a more experienced tutor or teacher. Not even experienced or professional individuals that work with language have everything down perfectly, and learning is an always-ongoing process. :) I'm extremely happy to see so many people reading and learning on their own, and I don't want anyone to feel discouraged from doing so in any way.
