When I first moved into the room I was renting in San Francisco, the toilet broke, and the landlord installed a new one. So for a good 5 months, that toilet only knew me - and it was fantastic.

i had a poem dream before!!!! i wrote an amazing poem and i felt similarly that it was also the most incredible thing id ever read. when i woke up i couldnt remember it other than the title. it was called 'toucans: post no bills'

i dont mean to be an asshole but i cant understand how turning on the automated captions and patiently waiting for an hour while youtube slowly and incorrectly tickets them out is comparable to listening to it or waiting for a proper transcript of it

If you submitted this script for poetry class then you would be expelled but it would be because of plagiarism rather than failing so hard that you have to leave.

That’s why you reference it. Attach it as an appendix if there’s rules about how much of other people’s work you can quote. Then make the actual poem or its title the citation, then refer to Appendix A. You could also maybe title it something like “Dadaism” or “Found Object Poem” so it’s like you’re deliberately doing the thing from these art movements, but as a poem, so it’s not the work you’re posting that is the poem necessarily but the act of presenting it as a poem is your poem? Idk. I immediately started thinking about how someone could get around the plagiarism rules when I heard this bit. Also, if asked to submit 5 poems then maybe throw in a 6th just in case they wrongfully disagree that this is a poem. If you make a note saying if they have an issue with the poem then they should critique poem 6 instead. That way you’re covered if you would have needed to challenge a grade or if they’d threaten to kick you out. Maybe. Idk.

i once came up with a joke in a dream and it was quite funny, i don't remember it now

I think in the dream state you convince yourself things are greater than they really. I'm a compulsive dreamer and they're almost always oriented around love or fear

Well, poetry is definitely an evolving concept. Back in Shakesperian times, most poems were sonnets, for example, but I doubt that anybody, including Shakespeare, would consider any poem that wasn't a sonnet as somehow invalid. In other words, our definition of poetry can change and expand with time. So I suppose, while poetry is usually a literary medium and fettuccini Alfredo might at best be considered a sculpture, it is possible that it could be a poem.
