You turned the G7 up till clipping but never turned the X8V4 up to clipping. That X8V4 has a lot more in it

MBE cant do a proper test when it comes to Sundown. Sundowns can take massive power way over rated ratings. G5 may be more efficient at lower ratings but that doesn’t mean it’s the better sub. Put some power to them Sundowns and you will see what it can do. Carlos has proven this in the 1 subwoofer tests. DD hanging down lower than basic subs. MBE hates on sundown. I had a 2 ZV6 12’s on a Salt4 and then switched to a Salt 8 and it woke them up. No matter what MBE says Sundowns have proven to be one of the kings hands down. That G5 is maxed out and the Sundown is being tickled with power. Surprised he didnt break out the paper clips lol. Here’s a test…do double the rated power to those subs and let’s see who is better.

@@danieldejesusjr3348 more power means more heat it may take double the rated power but to what extent after a certain amount of watts your bringing alot of heat,also the band of the game is to get the most out of your equipment volume wise without turning it up to holy hell. I got no dog in the race but back in the day all I remember was hearing ppls sustenance and them saying that was just on 10 or what ever the volume level was

Either way, they are both SPL subs for it's performance level....if you like SPL subs you can't go wrong with either one.

X8v4 crazy lows insane sound quality is crazy

All due respect I mess with you for your knowledge. I respect your hand with box design. You didn’t give them a fair shake though, you could’ve went up more clicks and gave that sundown more power, and that g5 isn’t remotely in the xv4 class. Might as well put the G7 in a spec box and xv4 in an optimal spec box then put them in the truck and let numbers talk with clamp or meter and run both to clipping. Real world results. I’m a DD Audio guy myself, just my opinion, that’s all.

Im debating on these either the 12 dd audio , sundown (debating on which subs size also), or the avatar stu 12 .. i live in Oklahoma so im kinda pushing towards dd audio but not sure hard decision .. thanks for the vid hope u and other do more comparisons on these.. i have a taramps smart 8k bass and going to get a salt -4 .. hard decisions on the woofers tho 🤔

Have you made a box for 2 8" for the new sundown yet with no seatlift for 22 sierra?

Sundown audio the better sub..just accept it..

First one sound like a 4 stroke vtwin yamaha. Second one sound like a 4 stroke parallel twin honda. I'm curious to see how they sound in a box.

G7 8” has bigger cutout and stronger more than x8v4…and the x8 score SPL same and the G5 which is the lil brother of the G7 8” …

The sundown wins, I sale both, finding what the sundown is happy with is the hardest. Don’t put the suggested RMS for sure, go higher as hellll

@@chokechange no. They'll have different impedance curves, so you'll get all kinds of weird frequency specific interactions that are gonna get in the way of any useful data

Maybe because it can’t efficiently use power and response as quickly as the G5. G5 8” has 22.5mm Xmax the x8 only has 19mm

Very possible , think we will definitely know for sure once we get them in the enclosure.

my man i know your objective etc. however i do feel this kind of test is not really indicative of much i feel a legit SPL burp will be the decider and for anybody else a demo in a comparative build as everybodies idea of Sound quality is different so yeah.

To me they looked pretty close.

I just didn't want to sit four hours for the people at the place that sells DC to build the box. It would have taken me two hours to drive there too.
