Imagine the waves of emotion Dave must be feeling during this. Sitting behind the drums while this song plays once again must be sad at the thought of the death of his friend, but seeing his own daughter perform it must fill him with so much pride.

So what. She has opportunities us mortals don’t. Having Dave Grohl as your Dad comes with its advantages. Would you not, in any honest profession, use your position assist your daughter in getting the best job you could want for her? Yeah, hers life is just a celebrity sized better than ours. Doesn’t make her a shit person, and she never tries to ride the coattails of her fathers success. She was asked to do the song. A brave challenge in my opinion. Kid if you’re reading this as I know you’ve spotted some comments. Fuck the haters alright, use them as fuel. It’s spineless jealousy, nothing more. You did great Violet. Kurt would’ve liked that.

@@chaos4316 i honestly don't think that Dave Grohl is trying to use his position and reputation to get his daughter a job in music. He doesn't really seem like that type of guy. I feel like he's just enjoying doing something he loves; performing and making music, with his daughter. Could you imagine being a parent, and when most people have trouble staying connected with their teenage children, she loves singing his old songs plyong with him. He gets to bring his daughter to work with him and spend time with her, I would do it too.

@@chaos4316 im confused. Unless someone has deleted a comment here then no one said she was a bad person or riding the coattails of her dad. All that i saw in that comment is that Violet has helped him come to terms with things that he might not have otherwise been able to. He has said before he doesnt like playing Nirvana songs in front of people as Kurt isnt there to play with them yet he let her sing a Nirvana song with the original band. She is the only person in the world he would allow to do that and that is amazing. I have to agree with the end part she did an amazing job and i love her voice. She will go far but not because of her dad but because she has tallent.

She turned 16 in 2022, so she's all of 14 here. If you heard during the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert, her voice has improved, though musically I don't know that we'll see her teaming up with Taylor Hawkins son (who is also 16 and already plays some mean drums) to create "Foo Fighter: The Next Generation", but I could see her having a musical career of some sort.

why are some people hating on that FOURTEEN year old girl? Nobody ever said that this was better than the original, but it was really, really good nevertheless. "Butchering Kurt's songs" like man, what's wrong with you? If you sympathize Kurt and Nirvana as a whole, you would know that this is exactly what they stood for. Nirvana's songs are a legendary stain on music's history, but talking about them as if they're godsends that should never be recreated is just cringy. I'd say Kurt would love to see things like that. Don't demotivate a 14 year old girl who did a great job on a legendary song just because you don't enjoy it as much as Kurt's version.

I also really like how Dave's carefully keeping watch over her as she begins to explore possibly having a career in music. Bc with her genuine talent and with her last name, once she decides to go at it fully, I'd be surprised if she didn't also end up incredibly well-known. Like, he's giving her opportunities to showcase her talent but he doesn't seem to be eagerly pushing her super far into the limelight too soon and without him by her side. Really seems like he puts being her dad first.

You can tell who’s never sung a day in their lives by scrolling through the comments, and the whole point of punk rock or “grunge” music is not to be perfect, just listen to most of the vocals from older punk bands and try to tell me they have perfect range, technique, etc.....

I don't get all the hate for Violet either, she has a great voice IMO, but to compare her vocals to punk vocals is a stretch lol. Yes you don't need technique and perfect range, but you need energy and emotion, and that is definitely lacking here. Punk and grunge vocals also usually have a very rough sound.
