    I live in So Cal and it gets over 120 sometimes. Pretty much a bone stock besides Internals,Damond mm corksport top mount baby tune and heat soak was ridiculous before I got the cs....night and day. It's my daily 150k original turbo no smoke and such 07Speed3 Gt. You wouldn't believe me but I was doing 140 or more and I didn't know a CHP was chasing me for 15 miles or so and I didn't know. He only caught up because I slowed down to exit before a major interchange. So any speed 3 owners know a CHP Tahoe can't keep up he was like i couldn't catch you😂Let's say I used the professional assistance card and kept my car. Brother is a CHP 🙏 Ticket was very exspensive and I stayed out of jail. If I knew he was back there I would have stepped on it, she had some more and these little cars are super solid at speed and it blew my mind.

    Right at the beginning of watching the video: there is NO debate about TMIC vs FMIC. FMIC is MASSIVELY superior, of course. The temperature of compressed air entering the engine is incomparably lower with the same size of a FMIC, compared to a TMIC. Anyway, thanks to you, I will go for 2" tubing for my FMIC. I definitely don't want a radical increase in turbo lag as it would brutally interfere with the increase in power (in terms of lap time and usability).🙂👍

    Definitely. But I had to use a clickbait-ish debate to get people to watch it...LOL!

    I live in South East Asia, near the equator. I've got cpe tmic on stock boost and turbo with a dp. Heat soak kills the engine with high intake temp if you are driving in the city. Never load up the engine when driving in the city during peak hours. On the highway is where you'll load it up coz as soon as you reach the open road, it'll take less than 2 miles to cool down the intake air temp. Efficiency will improve coz nothing is blocking the radiator and the boost kicks in quicker when the path is waaaay shorter than a fmic. For sure it'll be a fmic when I'm using a bigger turbo+higher boost😉

    very useful, if you could make a video on which turbo is best for mazdaspeed 3 and how to prepare engine to make sure it's ready for big turbo upgrade like a Precision 6466 etc it would be great.

    That is a great idea! I will add it to the list. I have already researched some of it for my Miata build. Would it be beneficial if I add some basic fueling upgrades too?

    Got it. The fueling part is the one that catches people out, there is a limit to how much the stock system can support, and then it gets $$$$$!

    @@FiveFiveGarage If I go with adding Cobb AccessPort - CorkSport HPFP - Cobb Intake and turbo inlet pipe, How hp do you think I can gain on Mazdaspeed 3 ?

  • @FiveFiveGarage

    @FiveFiveGarage

    3 жыл бұрын

    Probably like 10hp. The downpipe is the true power unlocker on this car. The bottleneck isn't the turbo, its the downpipe. The turbo can't breathe fully.

    Do you need a tune for front mount intercooler or will it be fine on stock

  • @FiveFiveGarage

    @FiveFiveGarage

    Do you have any other mods that affect air flow (i.e. aftermarket intake)? The Gen 1's have a little bit of leeway, the Gen 2's do not. Any time airflow mods are done (intake/intercooler) you are probably looking at a tune. A FMIC on a stock engine with no other mods *might* be ok, but you are looking at increasing turbo lag and it could be less efficient than a top mount at that point. If you are stock and want better efficiency, I would look into an aftermarket TMIC and save some $$$$.

    Which type of turbo do you have on the speed3 is it the K04/stock ? If it's the case do you turbo lag with the Mishimoto S-Line ?

  • @FiveFiveGarage

    @FiveFiveGarage

    3 жыл бұрын

    Still on the K04. If you switch to a FMIC you will experience a small amount of lag, because you have just added extra volume (the piping) to the setup over the very short runs of the TMIC (two couplers). It is really minimal for me, when I was at 50/50 on my BPV it was more noticeable, I went back to 100% recirculation and it became less notable. When I autox/trackday the car I don't notice it, just during street driving. If I were using this a street car, I would go with a smaller core and smaller piping and the lag wouldn't be an issue.
