    Dude, I love your channel. Been watching for a while now; I got my Mazda 2 about a year ago. It's a great car and although I'm a bit shy to begin modding her, your videos have a lot of accessible knowledge. So thanks! Keep doing the thing.

  • @HiroshimaSpirit

    @HiroshimaSpirit

    +elektronstorm I didn't, sorry. You won't think it's a totally different thing, but the notchier feel alone is worth it. The shorter shifts are a bonus. Plus, it's $45 before shipping. That's a bargain for a part that makes a tangible difference in the driving experience. Thanks for watching!

  • @HiroshimaSpirit

    @HiroshimaSpirit

    6 жыл бұрын

    +Andriks Salvatierra Honestly, there is no discernible difference in feel between the two. If there actually is any difference, you probably won’t feel it either. I like to think it’s shorter, though, so maybe the placebo effect is enough to make it seem so. lol I say just put it all the way down, really. The actual installation of the short shift kit in general is what makes the most difference. Everything else after that is up to your own perception. 👍🏻

  • @HiroshimaSpirit

    @HiroshimaSpirit

    6 жыл бұрын

    Other than an available 1.3L engine and different option combinations, there’s no mechanical differences between Mazda2s in different markets. There’s not much that you can buy for these cars anywhere. lol They’re not super popular outside of Asia, unfortunately. Looking for more power, even with the 1.5, you’d need to get into forced induction to make any kind of serious gains. As far as suspension, it all depends on your budget and what you’re going to use the car for. Just some springs will be fine for a daily driver but performance driving could call for something more adjustable. It’s all up to you.

  • @HiroshimaSpirit

    @HiroshimaSpirit

    It will fit. The 2007-2014 Mazda2/Demio are, for the most part, mechanically the same. In respect to the shifter, there’s no difference between model years. The part is manufactured in the US and we only got the 2 from 2011 to 2014, which explains the item description on their site.

  • @HiroshimaSpirit

    @HiroshimaSpirit

    7 жыл бұрын

    +yajeetj That's normal even without a short shift kit, because reverse is a straight-cut gear and sometimes needs to be jostled a bit to clunk into gear. If you can't get reverse, just roll forward slightly in first gear, then select reverse. However, I still recommend getting the DDM Works kit, because it's the superior setup.

  • @HiroshimaSpirit

    Probably, somewhere. I don’t remember it all at this point. My recommendation? Either throw $70 eBay springs on it with stock shocks (they work fine) or go coilovers. There is no in between that makes sense from a monetary standpoint. Plus, properly set up coilovers are way better than just springs, no matter which shocks you’ve got.

    Hey mate, been watching your videos for a while and enjoy them; I've got a 2001 121 (2 equivalent) plus I drive my Mum's next gen up Mazda 2 (auto though and the 4 speed sucks). They have 260,000 and 216,000km on them respectively (161,000 and 134,000 miles), and very little servicing, so they're going forever. Gonna be getting another car soon and it's coming down to either a Mazda 3 or 2. I enjoy driving the 2 and your videos are giving heaps of inspiration, but I'm worried the 2 is still gonna be slow compared to the 3, even with mods. just a little more power and torque would be better. So after all your mods starting with wheels etc, have you found a good improvement on a stock 2? I don't expect it to be a 3, though the fuel economy is still a bonus and that's making me lean towards the 2 still. cya.

  • @HiroshimaSpirit

    @HiroshimaSpirit

    7 жыл бұрын

    +Ken Digg Without considerable modification, i.e. forced induction, the 2 will never be a "fast" car. It's more about handling and being economical with the 2. It's lightweight, fun to drive, and even if you're thrashing it, you're not going that fast, so the risk of serious trouble is low. I'd rather be able to flog a slow car all the time than have a fast car and only be able to safely use it to full potential in a controlled environment. All of my mods have made it more fun to drive compared to stock. My definition of how fast something is includes how well it can go around corners, so I've definitely made it faster in that respect. The rest is up to personal preference.

  • @kdwoodford

    @kdwoodford

    DaedalusZero I have heard your comment re flogging a "slow" car vs restraining a powerful car before, and I agree. I'm always telling my kids that cars aren't fast or slow as sucb but it's acceleration, because every car can drive 100km/h. I was just telling my wife about your videos and she said she loves the sound of pushing the 121 and flogs it. Agree on cornering too. Thx
