hey I have a Mazda Protege 1995 it has the port to connect the OBD2 ELM23 but nothing happen when plug it I use this video to connect it this way but displays a message that says unable to connect to ECU do you know why is that? or what could be?

Mazda 626 has EU MECS-II diagnostic connector, you can double confirm by checking if Bus + and Bus - pin available on the 17 pins connector. Any wire can be use as long as it not too big that damages the female socket of the DLC.

No , you can use it . either MEN ,Gnd or Bus+ Bus- can be use.

Hi , so far I haven't encounter this issue even i use the wrong type of connector. But i have read in other forums . Some elm327 has manufacturing defect because using wrong value of components in their product. Mostly in obd2 , CAN bus .which resistance between pin 6 and 14 has 20 ohm on it.

Honda car with OBD1 connector work with ELM327 but the pins for connector are different from Mazda cars.

If the Honda obd1 3 pin connector is blue color, assume the connector notch at top, Left pin= Ground , center pin=12V ,and right pin signal (K-Line)

Is it possible to use other OBD2 adaptor apart from ELM327? My car is Lantis 1996. I have use ELM327 wifi adaptor with Iphone which is work but have some issue of lost signal. Try another product OBD2 with cable and display unit but there is no signal. It show only voltage.

Other OBD2 scanner that I know work on Mazda Lantis is using Launch CRP 123E.

No problem if plug it while driving. Some of the blue tooth elm scanner has the ability self turn off if not use for certain time. This is to prevent draining car battery.

My stubborn engine refuses to reset after i removed the negative battery terminal with brakes depressed anf headlights in the ON position. I left the car like this for 1 hour and check for error codes using jumper wire and LED. The blinking lights are still showing the same error codes. Waiting for the ELM unit arrival to erase codes. Thanks

I don't have any idea what type of the obd cable that you needed, using iso9141-2 k line or J850 bus line. If you are not sure try the other connection if one is not working. Some clone Bluetooth obd might not working as well

Thanks for the reaction, I have made 3wires like the first part of the video and I have 2 obd2 dongles, a mini blue one and a bigger one with orange, both say elm327 on it, they are Bluetooth. I can connect to the dongle but not the car

Do check the wiring connection DLC K-line to car ECU, Off engine remove your car key, using multi meter measure the resistant between MEN and GND pin , it should have value around 130K ohm.

If your car have the same 17 connector , it should works

Torque pro software that comes with the adapter featured in this video is not compatible on Mazda engines. It will not communicate with the ECU. Need Forscan lite software. Just take note.

Yes, you are right. Torque doesn't work with Mazda obd1 , you need Forscan.

If no BUS+ pin ，its using MEN pin, in video it shows both wiring configuration. Hope this help.

Must use Forscan only. Others won't work on Mazda and Ford

I don't think this works on US vehicles. They didn't have BUS+ or BUS- pins in the diag box.
