Mazda Mazda6 Signature | A Passionate Sedan for Passionate People

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Thanks to my day job at Kelley Blue Book, I drive and review lots of cars. Today I’m driving a 2018 Mazda Mazda6 Signature trim, that’s the super fancy one. That means it offers a more-powerful 2.5-liter turbocharged engine rated at 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque…but only if you run 93 octane. As the most expensive Mazda6 the Signature trim is priced around $36,000. That’s not cheap but it does include fancy features like heated and ventilated front seats, Nappa, special wood trim, and a 360-degree camera system.
To be more specific, the car I’m driving is Kelley Blue Book’s long-term Mazda6 test car. It’s a 2018 model but given the minor updates Mazda made for 2019 KBB’s long-termer remains a good example of what you’d buy from your nearest Mazda dealer. For a full rundown of our adventures so far during our one-year test, click here: www.kbb.com/car-news/2018-maz...
And just so the premise is ultra-clear, this is not a comprehensive review but rather a casual look at the Mazda Mazda6 Signature, while I live my normal life. Simple. Fun! #MicahDrives

Having owned this car for almost a year, I can say this is a really comfortable cruiser. There's tons of torque for get up and go but if you floor it even on completely dry pavement, it'll spin the tires. Any spirited driving will require wider and stickier tires and an anti roll bar would probably help with the body roll.

Also an owner of a Machine Gray Metallic Sig for a year this July. Car jas just gotten better with age. The engine has limbered up and can really take me off guard when passing. Off the line is managed because front wheel drive, but passing is very quick. The interior is also wearing well. Fyi, Mazda doesnt believe in adjusting steering feel with sports button. Only throttle respone is affected by sport button. Also that foot lighting is the accent lighting only available in Sig trim. In addition to all four footwells, there are also LEDs in door pockets and shining down from map light area. You can shut this off in settings. For the money I don't really know a car that matches the overall packaging and style of this 6 Signature for the money. And I drove ALL the competition. IMO. Nice review as always. I have to check and see if my wheel shakes when I slap it.

Oh forgot to add, the car's dynamics improve a bit with different rubber. The Falkens it comes with are soft for NVH and comfort. I swapped out for yoko Advan Sport AS and noise increased, but grip and dynamics improved and wheel spin was reduced quite a bit. Fwiw

14:39. The Mazda6 has adaptive “stop-and-go” cruise control. If you push the “resume” button after the car has come to a complete stop and the car in front moves forward, the car will continue to drive the preselected cruising speed depending on the car’s speed in front of you.

We leased an ‘18 Signature and loved it. Then leased ‘20 CX-9. Wanting to get back into a sedan at the end of the 9s lease we decided to buy instead of lease. We drove the ‘23 Camry, Accord, Sonata and thought none of them compared to our ‘18 Mazda6. So we searched and found a pristine 2020 Grand Touring and bought it…and saved a bunch of money over a new MSRP priced sedan from the Big 3 sedan sellers. We feel we have the better car. And she looks great sitting next to our Polymetal grey ‘21 MX-5 RF Club BBR!

Micah Muzio Thanks for the Advice Micah. With your vocabulary I would of sworn you have a a few degrees. Learning to fly is not child’s play. I am in the same helicopter (oops I mean boat) when I left Trade School I had already been working FULL TIME for years. I was the manager of this restaurant in Baldwinville, Ma. making very good money at the time. College wasn’t even a thought. But when the boss sold the business the new owners I knew just were not going to pay me what I was making. With a little luck I tried my first business at age 22. What did I know besides cooking and working the crowds other than ordering, and handling employees. I lost it in 6 months Mostly due to a bad landlord (who ended up in jail) and lie to me about installing A/C and fixing our water issues. But because of that experience I was discovered and asked to take over the Airport Diner and I was humbled but said no after that terrible experience. They kept on my until I said yes. I had no money left. Just $100. it was a turn key business and I went in with one days worth of food and had to use family as they gave me 48 hours to open. 4 days later in 1985 I had profited $648 after all costs. Everyone wanted to see the NEW guy running the place. I was shy but I think I cooked pretty good. Homemade soups, and hot dinners. Few homemade desserts and we where known and still are for our Home-fries. Now we are in our 3rd diner and we shop daily for Produce, and bread and buy mostly local. The completion in the area I am in has grown in the past 34 years I cannot count how many breakfast/lunch Diners, Drive Thru breakfast. Most don’t last 1 year. But they all start with low ball prices trying to get customers. Getting help these days is the biggest problem and social media is second biggest issue. COmpetion says things against us on Google, Yelp, FB that just are not true to start people chatting of what ever it is they are saying. Like latest one is we charge $9.99 for 1 order plain pancakes on Google Business. Simply not true and the afternoon she posted this no order of pancakes (PLAIN) were sold and we get $6.75 for 3 buttermilk pancakes with real butter and syrup. you can even add meat for only $1.25 more $7.99 but people will believe what they read and it brings the rating of our business down. Google and Yelp do not take down reviews that are written by discruntled former employees or by competitors. It’s a very poorly designed system especially when a business like us work extra hard in every area to make the guests want to come back for more. Another recent FB post was “Their refrigerators don’t work” people responding, I bet the Board of Health has NEVER been their. It was funny that day he came and as always we got ZERO infractions. Not 1 issue found. He told me he would bring his family here to eat as the place is spotless and day dated all foods in walk in cooler. They are thorough when they inspect. But if someone post negative Joe public spreads the word that we are disgusting. So social Media and employees have made what was once a very hard working business but happy to constantly explaining myself and worrying what is going to be written next. So, can we switch jobs for a week. ;)

As a 2014 Mazda 6 driver, I've been a little curious about the newest versions since I am probably getting close to trade in time on my car. In particular, the turbocharged variant catches my eye.. Even when I bought my car, I wished it had just a little more power. The new turbocharged engine seems to fill that role very well. Your review is very helpful. I may very well be eyeing a new signature model Mazda 6. Thanks for your insight. ALSO, as a pilot, I am sad to hear you won't be posting heli vids anymore. I would say maybe create a different channel and post them there. There are a lot of people in the aviation community who are on KZread, but not nearly as many are heli pilots. I am a ASEL PPL and your heli vids make me think more and more about making helicopter my next rating. Wish I could fly in an Enstrom, everything for rent around here is a Robinson or Bell variant.

We are about to go do a final test drive and purchase a Touring trim this weekend if the price is right. I've done a lot of research and pretty much eliminated the competition. Don't want a CVT or Turbo (hence the Touring trim level) and the Camry is too pricy for the same options and the new 8 speed seems to still have some bugs that Toyota needs to work out. My first choice would have been a Camry if it wasn't for the price and the transmission issues. I don't understand why there isn't as much reviews that focus on the engine and transmission performance and reliabilty. Those are the two most expensive parts of the car and people care more about Apple car play? Reallly...... I love the look of the 6 as well.

I'm interested in looks, long-lasting durability, and resale value. I'm not enthusiastic about the Rav 4, Highlander, CRV or Pilot. I'm scared to leave the Honda and Toyota franchises since I was burned by VW. Would you consider buying a couple years older luxury like an Acura MDX or Lexus?

@@MicahMuzio I appreciate the reply! I totally get it since companies want reviewers to be show casing their best of the best cars but I really like Mazda's base models because the interior and exterior of their base model cars, especially the Mazda 6, are very similar to the expensive trims for alot less money.

I had a Mazda6 Grand Touring and for only 184HP and 185 lb-ft of torque, it delivered it so early that in local LA driving it felt like enough. Passing on the 5? Not so much. I was looking forward to the 2020 Signature trim, but opted for a Volvo S60 R-Design and, although I love Mazdas (own a 2016 CX-5 GT and had a Mazda5, too) I'm not sure I'll be back. Time will tell. I am curious to see a redesign.

I like the new format. Even the screaming intros. As for the Mazda, I find the exterior styling timeless. It will age much more graceful than something like an Altima. But that interior color is a fail. Brown/gray looks like faded black. Personally, I prefer more contrast.

NeoGee When I first got my 2018 Mazda6, seeing “Mazda Mazda6” on documents and websites confused me at first. Technically, the model name IS “MAZDA6”. The 6 is not standalone. For example, on the trunk of a Camry, you don’t see “TOYOTACamry”.
