Zimhonkey, wanted to say thanks for the video, it really helped me in replacing the speakers in my 2007 Mazda 6 (left drive). I wanted to take a moment to add some comments to help those that may take on this job themselves as well: 1- Metra Wiring harnesses are a godsend. for our mazda 6, part number is Metra 72-5600,purchasable on Amazon 2- Boommats for 6x8 speakers can be purchased from Amazon as well. these are foam enclosures that will fit in the door hole and also double as your rain guard. have a razor blade handy for trimming the outer edges 3- Driver's door is held in place by single screw in the door handle. all other doors are held by 2 10mm bolts under the pop-off handle cover. 4- it is advisable to follow his walk-thru here to remove the panel all the way, it will make your life easier. 6x8 is what is stock all around, but you can use 5 1/2 as well per Crutchfield the stock speakers are 25 watt each, so anything above that is going to improve your sound. I personally purchased Rockford Fosgate R168x2 (2 channel) speakers. they have built in crossovers, so adding crossovers won't be necessary. for me, appx 30minutes per door, your first one maybe longer so you're doing this your first time All told for me though, spent $100 for speakers, boom mats and wiring harnesses and so far, love the update. as it's a older car, I don't intend to do anything fancy with the sound system but for daily driver like it is for me with the occasional road trip, this was all worth the investment.

how did you remove the water guard off the stock speaker and install it on the new one?

benjivasquez Hi, do you mean the foam surround (I don't know what it's called :P). It was so long ago I'm not sure I can remember but I think I used a craft knife to work the glue loose and then gently pealed it off. Does require some care so as not to damage it. Hope that helps (wish I had videoed it!).

I have a 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback and my bose system was working well untill one day I left it on a friend of mine lot ( it is a car wash and mechanic lot ) and the people on the car wash mess with the radio and when I pick up my car the system does not work anymore, I check the fuses and they are ok , the system seams to be working and also the cd, but no sound, can someone help, thanks

How did you get the cover off of the stock speaker?

Skaboss241 Hi, sorry for the slow response (problem with account!). I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the cover. In my car the "cover" is built into the door panel - there is no other cover that I know of (some rough guides to remove from 1:55 - sorry I couldn't film me doing it at the time as only had a hand held camera and needed both hands to do it).

Manual says 5.5x7.5in for Non-Bose. Usually 6x8 or 7x5 speakers to replace - but do check before purchasing.
