    Take a file and clean the rust strip for about 7 inches on both sides before removing the brake. A lot easier.

    @@missionnad1 well...I thought I had I kept hearing that “particular noise" and I was sure it was, I believe I did the job backwards 🤔..... First I replaced de shocks, then the hubs (after I watched you video), still hearing the noise, finally find out that “the noise" might coming from the tires since they wore out unevenly since the shocks were in bad shape ,so next step is take the car to have the tires unmounted , balanced and alignment .... hopefully this would help until the tires get even, also, this mistake of mine would help your viewers

    Looks like I need to invest in a Caliper compressor to be able to "properly" replace just my hub. Though, Like that 2010 Mazda 3, my 09 could probably use a rotor and pad replacement, as well... Unfortunately, it cost me my current savings to just get the 1 hub.---- Is there any way to compress the caliper w/o having that specialized tool? (and to think I thought this was going to be an "easy" and "quick" task.)

  • @rcguygarage

    @rcguygarage

    Жыл бұрын

    Sorry it depends on the caliper. Sometimes you need the correct tools for the job. Like going in for surgery and the surgeon tries using a serrated steak knife you might not want that one

    @@rcguygarage Good news is, Didn't "need" the compressor, as no pad/rotor replacement was necessary. Just a bit of a shimmy and it slid back into place with precision fit. (No doubt, had it be a brake/rotor replacement, that compressor would be EXTREMELY handy, if not needed.) Though, we ran into a slight variation of a problem. The 4 bolts holding the hub to the main mount, yours was a standard hex-head bolt. Mine, a T50 Torques was required, and they were so seized that it took myself and a friend a solid 2-3hrs of fighting it, oiling it (with blaster), and some how getting a breaker bar on the wrench, just to get 2 of them free. Once those 4 bolts were out, the rest was a cake walk, thanks to your video. Now, gonna save the funds to do the rear passenger hub... then the front 2.

    Lot of possible things to address. If only changing one side you may have to clean the other side as signal might be stronger on the replacement part.

    Great video, but I must say after all the money spent on the hubs, rotors, brakes, why not replace those crappy rusted brake shields that only cost about 20.00 each? You already did all the work to get them off.
