How did you determine it was the lid lock and not the shifter? I see you did mention the actuator/mode shifter.

I replaced both, actuator and lid lock and still had the same problem

My maytag MWVB765FW3 washer lid lock light is red washer will not run. Have taken lid lock switch off seperated 2 halves inspected it put 2 halves back together reinstalled it and reset the machine. Now the washer will not change cycles and will not start, only makes a dinging sound.

Thanks charles, The best thing to do now is just replace the lid lock. They tend to not last very long.

What does it mean when the light is red and not blinking? Also I have the bravos model. Greatly appreciate any feedback 🙏

I put a new lid lock on my maytag and now it just makes a clicking sound and blinks any answers for me i cant afford a new washer right now 😢😢😢

Can you try this reset: Press and hold the Start/Pause button for 3 seconds. All indicator lights should be off at this point. Reset the Washer: To reset (clear) the washer, rotate the Cycle Selector Knob counter-clockwise (left) to clear any sequence.

I have a bravos xl and the lid lock light and the power light are continuously blinking and there is no power to it.its UNPLUGGED AND BLINKING !? HELP

Look at the wiring diagram and see if it's possible. If you can't read a schematic you have no business bypassing the lock, just buy a new one.

No cuz the control board will get confused and not allow start up hen it’s going thru it’s check mode at the beginning of the cycke

It didn't work

I know this is a hit and miss on getting a answer, but I replaced the lid lock as simple as it could be. The wife threw in a blanket to wash, washer is washing no problem. BUT lid lock light does not come on now to identify its locked! Would I need to do a reset and how? 🤔

If it’s working like it should the led may be out or shifted out of place I fixed appliances for many years and don’t remember the light being out and the washer working correctly.

Lid lock needs to be replaced? Automatically that's the diagnosis? I just bought this machine & have literally washed three loads of clothes in it, and on load 4 it's going whacko with flashing lights.

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Thank you. I didn't see your message until this morning. I did unplug it overnight and plugged it back in yesterday. I got it to unlock and took the clothes out but it won't drain or do anything. Now the lid won't lock, so the machine won't go into any type of cycle. I've played with the buttons and unplugging and plugging it in for various periods of time with no success. I have a repair person coming out today. At least my clothes aren't sitting in there getting moldy. I think these lid locks are a major design flaw. There should be an override button. My next machine will be a Speed Queen without a lock!! This is insane!

None of my lights come on. I took apart the lid lock switch and was able to force it to turn the lid lock light on (red). The washer is still unresponsive/not coming on. Any thoughts? Thank you

Thanks man I think that maybe my problem with my Maytag I just subscribed and gave you a thumbs up pal going to check you out kind of a handyman myself interested to see what you got to show me thanks for the help a bunch man I was freaking out I'm not much of a appliance guy if you will I know it's pretty basic and Common Sense stuff but insides of appliances scare me with what you showed me I think I can handle it thanks again by the way my Maytag looks a little different than yours I don't know if yours is like mine or not but mine is so quiet it's unreal that's why I was really freaking out because it's so quiet I didn't want to lose it so quiet I love it

Oh no

With the lid lock not working,does it cause the machine to not finish cycling to complete wash?. my lid lock light is blinking and is stuck on rinse spin rinse spin...

You’re right, it won’t let it go to spin unless it can lock the lid. Time for a new lid lock

How did you get the machine to run with out the lid locked, my lid lock is broken, not the machine.???

@@mattratcathat ; after 35yrs of service it's people who think like you is exactly they went from a simple lid switch to a lid lock ! Safety is not big with you i see .

My question is. I'm pushing and pushing that rubber button and nothing is happening... If I continue to push eventually is will start. .. Does that mean the lid lock needs to be replaced?

control problem is more like it

The best fix is to avoid washing machines with design flaw lid locks. I hate my Bravo XL, If you spend the time and money to fix it there is a good chance the problem will come back, and you will be spending money and time again. I fixed my Bravo XL by moving the striker back and forth many times. It worked well for 6 months but the lid lock error as comeback. The magnet trick to fix it did not work for me. I don’t want to do these steps and then have another piece of hardware fail. the best fix is to avoid washing machines with design flaw lid locks. I hate my Bravo XL, If you spend the time and money to fix it there is a good chance the problem will come back, and you will be spending money and time again. I fixed my Bravo XL by moving the striker back and forth many times. It worked well for 6 months but the lid lock error has come back. Consider replacing your washer with a Speed Queen washer that does not have this design flaw lid lock.

If it were only that simple!

I am a veteran professional Serviceman. People and pets can and do get hurt. DO NOT DEFEAT a Lid lock. But a new Lid lock and replace it. PEOPLE I see pets and children get hurt or die frequently. This is avoidable. DO NOT defeat lid locks. Lid locks serve a very good purpose.
