There is a lot of work to be done and it's going to cost a lot of money. I have lived in TN for 28 years and this has been the topic of discussion that long as well. It will also only serve Davidson County as WeGo employees are paid under a nonprofit call Davidson Transit Organization DTO and the way the laws are written WeGo can't or at least is not supposed to be able to cross county lines. I also have noticed that there has been no mention of funding and/or improvements to the paratransit service Access Ride which also falls un WeGo that serves people with disabilities and the elderly. For the record, the only Metro employee of WeGo is the CEO! The ONLY way that a plan will work is if the infrastructure is improved first, there are sidewalks everywhere to be able to get to the bus stops to be able to use the fixed route bus system. There needs to be a collaboration between the Metro areas and the state and a Mass Transit system and sidewalks need to be built. The talk now is just that talk with a proposed budget of $3.1 Billion dollars which means much higher taxes and again it only serves on county.
