ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
ABOUT US
Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

I have met many people who have studied philosophy at top universities but they know nothing about Vedanta . Hence they are still baffled by some questions that are easily answered by Vedanta . This eloquent swami is soaked in Vedanta but also is very well versed in western philosophy . What a living resource ! He has done the hard miles on our behalf . Thank you Swami . Thank you Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi . Happy Easter to one and all ✝️🕉️🙏

"What was hidden by Maya? You were hidden by Maya. Maya did not hide the truth from you. You are the truth. So the play of Maya was your own play." This took my mind into complete silence for couple of minutes, which usually never happens. And when I rethink the last line again & again, it gives such a strange feeling I can't describe. It was an outstanding talk by Swami ji. What a valuable asset he has provided through this lecture. Thank you so much 🙏

The ancient Indian sages ( Rishis) encountered these truths in the depth of their samadhis and passed it down to posterity in the form of the vedas , Upanishads and Vedantic teachings. Buddhism is an integral part of this dharmic civilization.

It is available to all , all over the world Earth. There may be different Forms , species in different parts of world. But the Truth , godliness is available to all. Only the conditions of living , geographical, social etc. are conducive in different degrees in different regions. In fact , humanity has to rethink , revisit the conventional idea , thought that man was primitive and by now has " Progressed ". The Scriptures and great seers have told that Man was Full , or spiritually Complete , even when he was created , having come from God

But it does not mean maya = illusion. Maya is the creative shakthi of Shiva and it is absolutely real. I love that the Swami has the solid understanding of hundreds of years of philosophical thought and has cultivated an escape from the worldly mirage and then takes his time to hang out and give lectures and teach the rationale. He could just as easily meditate all day. But then again, probably not. He seems to very clearly understand what he is called to do in this manifestation and that is incredibly wonderful.

Beautiful talk and thanks for introducing the book by Prof. Grimes. At 33:46 the crowd laughs when swamiji says the parents came to fight. These parents have to exercise the same bravado when their kids do it to them. This is a great path... The Hindu world needs more swamijis and swaminis to go to the interiors of India. My humble greeting to all. I thank the creator of this video for bringing us divine knowledge and thus enlightening our minds. Finding fellow seekers is a rare thing and I will like to use this space to share with you all something about my own Guru, Swami Shri Ajay Gurudev. Guruji, started his inner journey at an early age. He did not have a Daihik (one with a physical body) guru, but was initiated on the path to self-realization by Mahavir Swami. Guruji underwent many trials and tribulations, but at the age of 13 he emerged victorious, self-realized! Guruji has been a beacon of light for many, including myself. I have first-hand witnessed many of his leelas and what some might call, Miracles. Due to his grace, I am working in the USA and also treading the path of yoga swiftly. Guruji does not believe in fame or building ashrams, despite living in the heart of New Delhi he has stayed fairly anonymous and meets only a handful of people who are sincere and want to tread the spiritual path. Guruji, a while back took on the initiative of sharing his knowledge through building a website thetreasuredivine.com/home/. The objective of this website is to guide seekers treading the spiritual path and also to bring the positive vibrations of a True saint to one and all. I hope this humble initiative will be helpful in your spiritual journey and may the divine principle enlighten your lives.

Spellbinding!!! Thanks a lot Swamiji 🙏🙏🙏 On earlier occasions, Swamiji also referenced Maya in the following contexts - 1. Obscures the distinction between Seer & Seen - Dhruk-Dhrusya Viveka 2. Makes you believe that you are this body & mind via Aavarana & Vikshepa- (covers your true nature & projects something else in its place) 3. The ignorance we experience in Anandamaya Khosha. 4. Maya is Time, Space & Causation 5. Maya is Name, Form and Function Existence, Consciousness and Bliss are Brahman. Nama & Rupa (Jagat) are aspects of Maya. 6. Maya associates doer-ship with actions of the body and mind. 7. Maya associates Experiencer-ship with joy and sorrow that happen in the mind.

THE TRUTH ABOUT "SWAMI" VIVEKANANDA & THE RAMAKRISHNA MISSION: Some of the following three points apply to practically any "religious" organization, not only to the Ramakrishna Mission/Vedanta Society. Nota bene: I refer to the founder of that pseudo-religious organization by his proper name, Mr. Narendranath Datta, and NOT the name by which he is addressed by the deluded fanatics who follow him, "Swami Vivekananda", for reasons that should become obvious when reading the following. 1. A spiritual master ought to be a member of the Holy Priesthood (that is, the "brāhmaṇa" class of society, usually wrongly transliterated as "Brahmin"). Mr. Datta was a member of the working-class ("śūdra", in Sanskrit), since he failed to exhibit key characteristics of a genuine brāhmaṇa. Firstly, he was a drug addict (he died at a young age, due to lung cancer caused by chain smoking tobacco). 🚬 Secondly, he was a carnist. A carnist is a person who considers animals unworthy of moral protection (he virtually suckled on the teats of cows, thus causing undue harm to both himself, to the cows from whom he stole their milk, and of course the poor, innocent calves, who were robbed of their food). 🍼 🐄 🥛 In order to learn of the prerequisites for being a TRUE BRĀHMAṆA, email me for a copy of the Holiest of All Holy Scriptures, "A Final Instruction Sheet for Humanity" ("FISH"). 2. The Ramakrishna Mission/Vedanta Society condones the two MOST PERNICIOUS institutions in the history of the planet - democracy and feminism. There is insufficient space in this comment section to properly explicate the reasons why democracy (or, for that matter, any system of non-monarchical governance) and feminism are so adharmic and evil, so, if you are one of the very few souls who is desirous of understanding my reason for stating the above, you should find my Email address in the "About" page of my KZread channel. 3. Because, as mentioned previously, Mr. Datta was an ultra-fundamentalist pseudo-religious fanatic, and an ignorant "śūdra", none of his disciples and grand-disciples, et cetera, can ever attain to self-realization, for as Lord Jesus Christ rightly stated two millennia ago, "A student can never be greater than his teacher". Therefore, if one has ambition to become even more "realized" than Mr. Datta, it is ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE that he seek training from a guru who is on a higher state of spiritual understanding and realization than Mr. Datta, or any of the current Ramakrishna Mission "sannyasins". Just to provide a couple of examples for the above accusation, the current head of the Advaita Society of New York, Mr. Vishvarupa (so-called "Swami" Sarvapriyānanda) is a self-confessed candāla (dog-eater), since he consumes the bloody carcasses of poor, innocent animals, and of course, as a member of that demonic organization, he promulgates the second-most pernicious institution in history (feminism). Furthermore, the British woman who hosts his KZread channel, Diane Crafford, according to her Facebook profile picture, condones not only unjustified animal slaughter, but she supports the murder of even poor, innocent, defenseless, unborn humans. 👿 In order to study dharma and yoga with the current World Teacher Himself, search for "Jagadguru Svami Vegananda" in Facebook. 😇 सत्यमेव जयते! 😇

A bit hard for a Rookie like me to understand but very fascinating. I was once a Christian and then renounced Christianity and came to love Judaism and the Kabbalah and I still love Kabbalah teachings. I find the Old Testament now too violent to read and I believe in the truths of the Vedas and Buddha . I don't know fully and who ever does but the ideas in Hinduism and Buddhism ring so true to me. So much to learn. Thank you for these great teachings!
