That's very cool. I'm not good at modeling characters nor rigging. It takes a long time for me to follow a rigging tutorial BUT my hardsurface models no matter how cool only get a few likes. Moving, animated beings that seem to have should garner more attention, I believe.

I agree, quick rigging is a great way to present you models.
I´m getting some problems animating by hand with the HIK, some strange interpolation happens and chaging the tangent types in graph editor have no effect (I already changed the quaternion curve type to independent euler for rotations). Some hint?
hey, great tutorial, quick and easy. I have a question tho, can you rework the skinning with the paint skin weight after using the maya auto rig?
@OnMars3D
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you can edit the skinning once you've implemented the auto rig.
Is there a way to create a master control to move the character or scale it?
The Mixamo solution is great for quick and dirty prototyping, but I struggled once I tried to make custom animations in Unity (use keys and animate bones in the editor). The Problem is that Mixamo is rather bad when it comes to skinning.

Agreed, you definitely have to clean up the skinning when it comes from Mixamo. I mainly use it for quickly posing my character models
mixamo saved me on my fmp as the first method wasn't working cheers!

I'm having this weird issue where after I add the skeleton and try to go into Arnold Render View, my texture disappears and basically becomes translucent. It only happens for the main body mesh though, every other mesh/object seems fine. Any tips on fixing this issue?
Would honestly love to see this done using anything but a 1:1 humanoid format. Like a baby or Pokémon for example. Something with tiny legs or short arms that don’t have elbows or knees. It’s not so simple once you get there…
@OnMars3D

Yeah, definitely agree, anything non humanoid would need a custom rig, but there are tools out there to help with the process.
I think Adobe used to have a Mixamo auto control rig plugin for Maya but removed it. Academic Phoenix Plus made a video about it with a link to her copy of the plugin.

Good to know, thank you for sharing!
Are you able to remove joints and then reposition auto rig joints?
@OnMars3D
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you can modify the Auto Rig just like any Maya skeletal rig.
Hello. Great video. Thanks for sharing. Is there a way to get Mixamo script run properly in Maya 2022. I keep getting an error message when running the Mixamo script. I look forward to your response. Thanks
@OnMars3D

What is the error message you are getting? For Mixamo, you just download the model from the website and import it into Maya. Did you mean the QuickRig?

What about. skinning the character afterwards?
@OnMars3D

Yup, you can modify the skin after quick rigging or importing from Mixamo.
Its not working for me, i just get the notification "unable to create guides: unable to perform discrete embedding. Try using different Skeleton embedding method or a different mesh"

HELP
does this work with xgen?
can I add a facial rig to an already auto rigged character?
@OnMars3D
2 жыл бұрын
Yup, you can expand upon either of the auto rigged characters and add your own custom controls.
My character is A pose how to change it in T pose
I am having a problem where when I import the fbx to maya, it only will import 30 frames, and I cannot fix it for the life of me.
@OnMars3D

How many frames does it show under the "Trim" menu in Mixamo when you want to export? There are sliders there so you can export more or less frames.

@@OnMars3D I got it to work but it was very bizarre! It was playing the speed of lightning and I made a brand new scene and it magically started working. I am assuming it was Maya shenanigans😭
Wish you could bloody just drag the auto rig parts around to put them where they should be, would be so much easier, for me the entire rig is just maybe 3 cm to the left of where it needs to be :(
very low quality rigging job for non realistic human models
For quick rig, how do you add the fingers??
