I love the graph breakdowns! 😩 the dedication to tracking all the data! I applaud you cause I’m so bad at it lol Kids Quotient is so good!!! I keep pushing it on everyone I know lolol. Definitely agree about the Vietnamese representation in the book. The absolute barely controlled chaos of Vietnam households is WILD. 🥹🥹 I’m so glad you love Front Desk. 🥹🥹 I’m the same when it comes to speaking. It doesn’t bother me now but back in the day I was so self-conscious about how I spoke. It’s so crazy to think about the lengths I would go to fix my accent/the way I spoke ooof.

Have you tried storygraph? You can just plug in the % you're at every day, and they'll have auto-generated graphs for you! Personally, I like mine catered to myself so I use google sheets but for simple purposes, storygraph will work just as well! I use it to track the pages I read, and I fill it in once a week 😂 Kiss Quotient was soooo good. I'm excited to read the Bride Test by her (focusing on a Vietnamese couple). Can't wait to see how it is 👀Just something about the Viet blood gets everyone so wild and riled 😅Definitely grew up in an extremely loud environment. Thank YOU for recommending it. It was SO good; I felt basically all the emotions you felt when you were reading it 🥹 Just so heartbreaking because this book allowed me to reflect back on how I was a child, and I just wanna be like "IT'S OKAY" 😭

@@itsmimiduong 😅 I’m really bad about using storygraph. I think it’s because I’ll read randomly or in a queue, so I forget to log the half page or so that I get through. I definitely need to get better at it though lol. RIGHT!?! Let me know what you think about Bride Teat! I wish there were more Vietnamese representation in romance. I mean, the stories I’ve heard from IRL friends would give Colleen Hoover a run for her money. My husband was so surprised at tet at how hot blooded we were. I felt bad for not warning him lol. 🥹 I hope your nieces love it too! It’s one of those stories I wish I had when I was younger.

Wow I love all the detailed breakdowns you have! Nerdy analysis like that is just my cup of tea as well. And who can resist seeing all those savings 🤑. I see you're just like me, who is slow to get into things and then full steam ahead 🚂once I'm truly invested. Can't wait to see what other good reads you find next month 📆 !

What a great reading month you had! Both quantity and quality. Good for you! 😊 I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on Front Desk and how hard it is to be in-between languages like that, and not living up to anyone's standards, or rather feeling like you don't. That must be really hard. I'm glad you're not as bothered by it anymore, and I don't think you have any reason to be bothered about your English, it sounds absolutely fine to me :) Can't speak to the Vietnamese of course. But as much as you might feel like you're not 100% at either, there are so many people who are 0% at their second language. So it's easy to only compare to the 100%-ers, when actually, most people aren't even that in their own language, and lots of people only have that. So be proud of whatever percentage you are at in your TWO languages and let other people be jealous that they can't speak Vietnamese even a little.

Thank you for your kind comment 🥹 Front Desk just allowed me to reflect back on my life, and gave a lot of food for thoughts for me personally. I definitely recently met a couple of Vietnamese small business owners, and I do my best to communicate with them in Vietnamese, and most would tell me for an immigrant -- they expected me to not be able to converse but I was able to communicate pretty effectively. I guess it really put into perspective of life. But I just felt like this book was so good at putting things into perspective, and allowing me to reflect back on my life 💕

Thank you!! I highly recommend checking out Storygraph if you want some basic graphs 👀they do almost everything for you, just gotta plug in your daily reading and you're good to go! At the end of the month, you get some graphs! AHHH. I'm hoping we still like it. I haven't heard much about it actually! Personally, I don't really take reviews online to heart most of the time -- I generally take reviews from YTbers I watch much more seriously (like yourself) 😂

i love the graphs so much!!! i barely look at my stats on storygraph so maybe i should actually do that haha it's so fun! I'm glad you enjoyed Beach Read! Honestly, I think the only reason it's my 'favourite' E.H book technically is because it was the first one I read so i have a little nostalgic bias there, whereas objectively speaking Happy Place is my true favourite I think for the same reasons as you! I've actually been re-reading it to annotate it and even though I still love it it's not *quite* as perfect as I remember (but i suppose that just goes to show my taste in reading is evolving!) You've got me SO hyped up for Butcher & Blackbird now I'm starting it tonight!!!!

  • @itsmimiduong

You should!! I think it's so satisfying seeing the numbers 😍 Even if it's just for yourself to look at AHH I have the physical book for Happy Place as well, so I want to do the same as you! Beach Read was good, all in all, but the character relationship wasn't for me 😭E.H. is good at writing real life situations but it can feel too real sometimes (especially when I'm in the mood for mindless or ridiculousness). Can't wait to see what you think about it. 🥹 The trigger warnings are real but also not as serious as you would think. It's hilarious!
