May Calico Bite | Fishing a Hookup Bait Inshore
The kids and I got on a fun bite for about an hour off of Long Beach, California. The calico bass were on the chew, and we ended up with around a dozen before heading off to lunch.
The hot bait for the day was a 5/8oz Hookup Bait, fished on a #15 florocarbon leader.

How do you fish the hookup bait? Do you just drop it and let it sit or jig it some sort of way ??

I am still trying to figure it out, but it seems like there are several ways for bass. It almost always seems to get bit on the sink or on a pause during a retrieve, I I mostly let it sink to a certain depth, wind 5-20 cranks, then let it back down.
