Nice review. I run 2.25 Aspen rear and 2.4 Aspen front and I love the combo. Super grippy up front and fast rolling on the rear. With my s-works Epic it comes in at 22.08lbs. Works great here in Colorado where we have a lot of loose over hard pack kitty litter.

My go to tires!! Aspen’s 2.4” on my hardtail and 2.25 on my Orbea oiz they shed mud very well. I don’t notice a difference in traction between the two bikes.

I'm currently running 2.25's aspens on my hardtail and the 2.4 rekon race's on full sus. & I agree, the side knobs feel much more consistent in corners on the 2.4 RR, and that confidence up front can go a long way. I think my ideal setup would be aspen rear and 2.4 rekon race front for normal/dry xc conditions.

I have a hardtail bike and I want it to be as fast as possible on dry terrain and on the road. I'm currently running 2.20 tires and I'm afraid that increasing the width will result in a significant impact on rolling resistance. Would the Maxxis Aspen 2.25 be a good option? Kind regards

Addict: have you had the opportunity to try the Aspen 170 TPI? I got my hands on a 2.25 that was very slightly used and it is the first tire that I would actually call "amazing". More supple ride, grips better, corners better, ramps up speed faster than anything I've ever tried. Able to run one cog higher throughout my entire ride. Easy to see why so many pros use the 170 version. Also recently picked up a pair of Sidi Drako 2 SRS shoes and they are PHENOMENAL
