These are very useful around the shop and especially around the house. I bought one of these to convert into a powerful push leaf blower... i dont have flower beds etc around my home but trees with lots of leafs in fall. This 30 fan is amazing easy to move around and it moves more than just leafs...

Last year I bought 6 of these fans from The Home Depot. 4 this size 30" and 2 - 60" fans for my 100 X 50' shop. They were great last summer up until a couple of them stopped working towards the end of summer. I just pulled them out for this season expecting to have to work on the 2 fan switches or something simple. All 6 fans won't turn on, I replaced the switches to all of them and it fixed 2 of the 30" but the rest are still dead. The motors can't deal with dust or condensation. I have put way too much time and money into 1 year old shop fans than anyone should ever have to. The drum/barrel fan is designed for shops and barns but can't handle the humidity and/or heat which is exactly what they are supposed to be able to accomplish. Unless you're using them in an insulated controlled and clean environment.... Warranty runs out quick - THESE FANS SUCK. They're just fine for the suburban garage, but there's nothing "industrial or heavy duty" about them.

The air it gives out is very strong. I intend on using it in my room to keep it cool.

I eventually plan on getting one of these or it's Countyline counterpart found at Tractor Supply, though I spent the money I saved for it on a vintage Emerson 30" pedestal fan, seems to be a pretty solid fan and although it isn't the quietest it's probably better than using a plastic POS

So any preference to direct vs belt? I have a 36" version of this fan. But I'm thinking about going to 42" because the belt models seem quieter. They don't have that loud buzz the blades make when spinning on high speed.

Mine ran great for awhile, but now it runs for about 20 minutes and then slows down and will eventually come to a stop. Seems like the motor is overheating. Any ideas? I want to fix it if I can. Maybe oil the bearings?

This will out blow any box fan. It will work though, you'll get one hell of a breeze from it. It cools down an entire garage workshop in minutes.

Fans and air circulators don't lower the temperature of the air they're moving they just move it, so if you turn on a fan in a room that's 85 degrees farenheit and leave it on for an hour that room will still be 85 degrees farenheit an hour later...hard to believe that has to be explained to people

Madhav Sastry A google search of the model will tell you all the places it can be purchased. This one is from Home Depot. It runs on standard 120V house power and has a low and high setting. I have no way to measure how much air it puts out but it's enough on high for the kids to use with sheet 'sails' to ride down the driveway on skateboards and it keeps us cool in the garage while working on any project.
