Maximum Weight Challenge - Alpine - F1 Manager 2023

In this series we are going to try the maximum weight challenge in which we are going to keep durability maxed, severely hampering our performance. We will be playing hard difficulty, to make it a bit more interesting.
Potentially this will take a few seasons but I am looking forward to continuing this. Hope you enjoy!

    The weight slider is basically a difficulty setting. Going from very easy to actually impossible.

    Actually, this challenge shows that the durability slider is completely broken. Who in their right mind would ever select anything other than the lowest weight? The competetiveness outweighs any financial drawbacks by lightyears. I hope the 24 manager balances the design section in general and the durability in particular. There should be more incentives for different approaches.

    My hope is that we not only have mechanical failures (powertrain) but also part failures as that would help balance durability.

    wouldn't this be a good time to make special parts aswell? so you can make for example a downforce rear wing for something like Monaco and High speed for something like Monza? i remember you talking to make special parts in previous careers but never did, just an idea to maybe get some extra performance on specific tracks. also it will be fun to see how much the cost cap changes since unless Crashing, Part will last a ridiculous amount of races. I'm loving this too btw to the point where i might want to do this aswell. good job like usual.

    It could be a chance yeah, will have to see how next seasons car treats us before making that investment though I think. Unfortunately track specific parts didn't really amount to anything due to both manufacturing and also the fact that the gains weren't very high, but it could potentially work here since we have max durability so I'll probably revisit the idea next season.

    Why have you stopped burning tires on the race start/restart like the AI? The confidence loss doesn't affect much high on this particular challenge? Or there's something more to it?

    Generally starting on soft tires on most tracks you hold a pretty decent advantage, enough that you will not lose out much by taking care of your tires and the time/positions lost will generally come back to you towards the end of the stint. It is just me testing out alternate strategies, but for soft tires at the very least it does seem viable. The confidence loss is a bit of a concern though to be honest.

    Can you talk about the engines in one of your next videos? I'm struggling a bit with the right choice. I like the Renault engine, but I read everywhere that it is the weakest this year 😅.

    The engines are pretty balanced this year to be fair, they all have their moment to shine. I believe the worst engine is actually the Merc one, and the other three are fairly balanced with one showing strenght early race, another mid and the last 3rd, don't remember the actual stats but as mentioned they are close enough that you are fine with using what you want :)

    actually Renault engine is theoretically the fastest in race because of the best fuel efficiency. Red Bull fastest in quali and sprint because of the best power , ferrari is the balance option and merc is slow everywhere but has the best durability

    I did this with Haas and I didn't win till the 2026 season. Pretty much spent the whole 2025 season doing nothing but research.

    I didn't win the championship with McLaren till 2026 and I was actually playing it normally😭
