Maximize Your Lawn Coverage: Mapping Tips for the Husqvarna 550 EPOS

#CarlsMowerAndSaw #HusqvarnaAutomower #RoboticLawnMower
Last year we saw a big shake-up in the Automower® game with the introduction of the wireless Husqvarna 550 EPOS. The technology behind these smart lawn mowers is quickly evolving and getting better all the time, but there are still some things to keep in mind as we’re dealing with communicating with satellites.
When we come and do an Automower install, our goal is to take care of the majority of getting your lawn mapped out so that you only have to make minor adjustments. Here’s an overview of how you can customize where and how your mower runs, specifically how you can map your property to minimize callbacks and maximize the coverage of your lawn.

The app for Husqvarna is not very good. It crashes too often, and redrawing and editing areas is incredibly painful. It’s a general hassle. Additionally, the Husqvarna loses its Bluetooth connection very easily when you’re mapping. It’s also not as precise as they claim, so you will be editing those mowing areas from the start. However, the actual mower works well when satellites are available, but that can be tricky. The slightest shade or tree will cause it to stop. It also doesn’t know where to start when it loses its connection and will begin a new cutting pattern.. The Luba 2 has a phenomenal app where you can easily draw and edit areas. It also shows you the actual grid lines as it cuts, and it’s incredibly precise. Additionally, the Luba 2 has a camera and WiFi. Their satellite tech and ability to mow under trees are on point, but their mower is too fragile and typical of Chinese products. These are really not ready for most people, and I wouldn’t recommend them unless you have no trees or potential problems with sticks, stones, or any obstructions. I’m stuck with my Husqvarna and would encourage anyone to simply buy a zero turn for thousands less.

Thanks for your input. There are many applications that a traditional mower is the best choice or even a wired robotic mower. We have many of the wireless robots on properties that work flawlessly, and then we have the ones we fight. I’ve noticed the competition with cameras do not like mowing in dark or rainy conditions. That’s kind of a problem.
