Max Greenfield looks like he'd be first on a list to play John Mulaney in a movie, third or fourth on the list would be actual John Mulaney

Max got such a weak applause from the audience, which was sad because this was SO funny and he and Lilly were wonderful.

Vader 22 Agreed. It changed throughout the interview. I guess the audience needed a warm-up.
"I _know_ you can't. Act." 😆 Ouch!
Stephen sending the child back to the dressing room has been one of sweetest moments in this show since i start watching it, then what happend and how the interview goes was just too hot for cbs
Stephen, being a true TV dad, asks Lily to exit while the adults having adult conversations.

I thought for a sec he was gonna pretend he wanted to have her sit next to her dad during the explanation. Asking her to go back to the dressing room was way cuter!

Max Greenfield is hysterical in story telling. Schmidt was simply larger than life.
Damn!! His wife roasted him *SAVAGELY*!
I’ve been seeing this guy everywhere! New girl, american crime story, a series of unfortunate events.. such a great and diverse actor. 👍🏻
NOW WHY DID I CACKLE SO HARD WHEN HE WHISPERED thrust
_Moanologue_ is the best pun I've heard in ages 🤣
When the you see the kid and then when she comes out on stage that was just 100 different levels of cute.
Stephen's surprised laugh face gives me such joy!
BEST. CLOSING. LINE. EVER. what a wife!
Max Thrust is a strong porn name.
he seems like such a genuine dude. He's so funny as Schmidt.
I ended up laughing for 5 minutes straight after watching this - OMG what an interview! 😂😂😂
i loved him SO MUCH as schmidt. really amazing guy!
Oh, my GOD, the wifey burn at the end!😂❤️👍
I miss Schmitt 😭😭😍he looks great tho. He’s truly amazing 💜

Stephen Colbert is a very good host. Growing to love his show more and more.
hahahhaha his wife is the star of this episode! lol How did she steal the scene without even being in it???
Max is hilarious!! This had me laughing until I cried, followed by choking and coughing.
One of the funniest interviews I’ve seen!
A Stephan hug snub *Classic*
OMG that Lily is ADORABLE!!! Thank you for showing her; she's so, SO SWEET! Thank you to Will Smith, too, for the positive influence of his family values. It's a wonderful thing to have "real people" not being spoiled by fame. (((I know my comment almost sounds sarcastic, but it's NOT, I promise.))) 👍👍👍👍😊🙋🇨🇦 Is it Lily or Lilly?
YES, he does remind me of John Mulaney! Looks, mannerisms, laughing (enjoying himself, effortlessly), family reference, wife reference, making Stephen laugh . . . He's awesome 👍👍👍👍👍😊
Lily is the cutest, little girl. :) How sweet!
Can we talk for a moment about the music at the end? The bend played Moanin', I don't know if they thought of that on the spot or not but it's brilliant

if you know some jazz they do it all the time. during monologues john often playes tunes that match the punchline. It's like a whole additional level of humour just for the jazz lovers. 😊

@@annaanna6411 Yeah, I catch a bunch of them. It's not just jazz. They do it with pop songs, too. Wish someone would keep track of these somewhere. I think I catch about half of them.
The band playing Moanin' by Art Blakey at the end is a nice touch lol
This was a great interview. Very funny.
He's wife's comment to him had me LMAO!🤣😂👏 Him:😓 Reading the scene.... (expecting his wife complete rejection of it) Wife: Yeah. Do it. It would be good for YOU... Him: What!?😲 "I can't do this...." Wife: (like a boss) "I know you can't....ACT!"
i am convinced that the writers for New Girl just followed Max Greenfield around and listened to how he normally talks and from that created Schmidt's lines
Probably one of the best interviews Stephen has done...
Such a wonderful interview! FUNNY!! "I know you can't do it, ACT!"
I love stephen's reactions so much oh wow
Yo I don’t know if he sets these jokes up or they are actual situations, but that was good. And Colbert plays along well. Also him calling out Lily and asking her to go back stage...loooved it!
I want to see Max Greenfield, John Mulaney and Zachary Quinto play brothers. :)
Props to the band for playing "Moanin'" to end that clip! That was awesome :)
Great! Just him being funny while also so intimidated!! Go Max!
The Neighborhood is one of the best shows on TV right now!
OMG I am totally always gonna love Max Greenfield... Such a wonderful man!
I just peed myself laughing! Best Colbert interview EVER!

You might as well move to Louisiana. It’s becoming THAT cold here. I just put on a Patriots hoodie (sent by my mean brother in law from Boston) on top of my LA Rams hoodie that my DAD gave me when some guy named Vince was the Rams SB QB.
Stephen shows here just how much of a professional comedian he is.... Would have been nigh on impossible to top that zinger from Max's wife, best to end on a high note like that, even if it wasn't his. 😁😁😁
At 6:58 the band started playing Moanin' by Art Blakey

AWE soooo incrediby sweet to bring Lily and her excitement. :)
Max Greenfield to his own daughter: go away! HAHAHAHA
him saying, “wWHaAat??” gave me “you don’t wash the towel?” vibes lol
Hardly watch any interviews, but just had to watch this, and soooo worth it!
i am laughing out loud. This is hilarious.
This is the second KZread video I’ve ever seen him in since I’ve started watching New Girl (and ever). His voice. Oh my goodness! I’m SHOOKETH!!

The band played Moanin' at the end lmfao

Absolutely brilliant and I hope, Stephen invites Max Greenfield back to the show again soon and I think, Stephen should bring his kids to work one day as that would be incredible to watch and also funny too.
Max is the best. Love him.
