This weapon and te 98k looked like they had real rust,age and longtime crud on them not like those with uniform rust all over as if freshly applied.. the restorer looks like he really knows what he is doing.. kudos.

He didn't do anything that I saw to the bore and did he put it back in fireing condition or not otherwise he did a great job cleaning it up

Ese fusil debió estar guardado en un armero o un placard durante décadas. Tiene óxido de la humedad ambiente y de estar encerrado por mucho tiempo.

great video, just a quick tip, when using ultrasonic cleaners you should use the basket they come with so they are suspended in the cleaning solution as the items that are sitting in contact with the tub can actually wear a hole in it due to the ultrasonic vibrations. hope this makes sense.

other people: use big contraptions to remove the barrel. This guy: Hold my beer.

Nice restoration on those rifles.

Cooling gun metal in water will only make it brittle, should consider using oil even if it is going to be just a museum piece. The worst that will happen in oil dipping is a hardening of said metal. Just my opinion based on blacksmith logic.Nice vid well worth watching with my morning coffee.

Restauration? After closing the pittings by welding it's not recommended to shoot with that rifle. Just for decoration I think ...but it looks realy nice.

Frankly, it doesn't make much sense to refurbish the wood and then not even touch the steel. burnishing the metal if you don't polish it is of no use, and so are the welds, if the whole rifle remains disgusting. If it's irreparable, forget it, there are millions of those rifles, all in better condition
