I have been to Mauritania in 2018 for office work and i lived there for almost 8-9 months in Noaukchott and honestly saying i was amazed by their culture, food and the people are very welcoming and warm hearted ❤ i really enjoyed living in this country and i wish i would visit Mauritania again this time as a tourist to explore more places which i missed during my 9 months stay. Love from India 🇮🇳 😉

Interesting travel log. I have to say, I had a bad impression of Mauritania based on what I know (that slavery fact, for instance) and since it is not visible on Google street view, that impression had remained mostly unchanged before watching this. It's fascinating to see it from the ground from someone recounting their own experiences there.

It's comforting & hopeful that here are kind & beautiful people everwhere..and beautiful locales. but sadly it's also terrible, greedy, sociopathic humans who do the most damage, taking advantage of the most vulnerable in society: more than 40% of the population in Mauritania lives in abject poverty, in spite of the fact that the nation is rich in resources, such as gold, gypsum, iron ore & diamonds..but corrupt leadership has insured that the lion's share of the everyday people see none of it. also, modern-times slavery runs rampant there, as does female genital mutilation, forced child-bride marriages, torture and many other human rights violations. including but not limited to an updated law, which insures the death penalty and, specifically, NOT jail, is the punishment for being atheist and blasphemy. and at LEAST prison time, if not worse, for speaking out or writing or expressing, in an way, the facts about any of the human rights violations that go on there. being an honest journalist or even a citizen-journalist vlogger or blogger about such things, is very dangerous and, as one can imagine many have had to flee the country or face the pain of death. at the hands of either the government or religious fanatics. I'm also sorry to also know that no country is free from, a least, some amount of corruption, including my own - both within it's borders and in many places around the world. seems there's something evil living inside some individuals that causes them to harm to the most vulnerable: if the CAN then they DO. but it's videos like *this* one which serve as reminders that doing what we can to help make the world a safe place for the innocent is, still, 100% worth it, there just has to be a more effective way.

I find this report biased and very disrespectful to the thousands of Africans who are still being enslaved by white Arabs and Berbers. Though slavery is technically illegal, after being criminalized for the first time in 2007 and again in 2015, abolition is rarely enforced. Black Africans make up 30% of the country's population and in general, all blacks in Mauritania are referred to as 'Abd, 'Abid (slave, slaves). This country should be avoided at all cost until they repent and change their ways. As a person of Asian descent your lens is clearly biased seeing that they treat you differently, but that doesn't excuse you from reporting the truth. Their culture is down right rotten and xenophobic.
