This is seriously the BEST 8 strong tone I've heard yet. I appreciate Messugah and Animals as Leaders for their styles, but most people just copy them. I think I'm just tired of djent, djent, djent, djent, djent, djent, djent... This is how an 8 string should sound. Mattias... you have a "fan" now.

Hello Mattias, Just found your channel a couple of weeks ago and I love it. I'm currently 73 years old and became musically "awakened" during the absolutely amazing 1960's - and was in a few bands (on drums mainly with fairly occasional guitar / lead and rhythm) with artists involved in the British Invasion my primary focus. While I was never a devoted fan of "metal" I have recently have been noticing and really liking bands such as Volbeat (especially those featuring sax and terrific honky-tonk piano - along with Michael Poulson's excellent vocalizations). I'm a firm believer in the premise that "without a melody there simply can't be a song". This is where you and bands such as Volbeat (and others) really shine. You're "metal" versions of relatively "old" tunes are absolutely terrific and wonderful to listen to. That being said I honestly feel your comedic sense / timing / in front of the camera persona are absolutely refreshing and a joy and a major part of why I love what you do. When I was a little younger (late 50's and early 60's) many of the songs you feature in your videos were a staple in my home with my Dad being a tremendous fan of "melody". Even at that early age I was aware of the absolute necessity of melody. To make a somewhat long story a little shorter - I love the approach you have taken with these masterpieces. Thank you and all the very best to you and those you hold dear, Terry

I like the fact that he likes Django Reinhardt, a must for any serious guitar player. If you just listen to one genre of music you fall into the old adage "a person with just one taste has no taste at all.I was really into Punk and post punk ,the music ,politics and the idea of smashing the system and creating music of change.I also liked reggae ,and jazz and this really expanded my musical knowledge -when I heard Django he blew me away and opened up huge possibilities for guitar and 40 years later I still love the instrument.

Amazing on so many levels!! The setup really impressed me by its simplicity. So if I understand it right, Mattias uses one single amp tone with lots of gain, and all variations from clean to lead are done with a volume pedal in front of the amp (plus the delay)? Also amazed at how good a high gain tone cleans up so well. What volume pedal is that?
